Role & Responsibilities
Manage daily donation tracking (cash/check/digital) using Shelby Systems or similar church/temple software.
Prepare monthly financial reports for temple trustees and BAPS North America HQ.
Handle IRS 990 filings, state sales tax exemptions, and nonprofit compliance.
Oversee vendor payments (ritual supplies, utilities, maintenance).
Coordinate audit processes with external CPAs.
Manage payroll for 15+ temple staff (priests, admin, volunteers).
Budget planning for festivals (Maha Shivratri, Janmashtami) and capital projects.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance + CPA preferred
Experience:
3+ years in nonprofit accounting (religious/temple experience prioritized).
Expertise in US nonprofit tax law (IRS 501(c)(3) compliance).
Skills:
Software: QuickBooks Nonprofit, Excel (PivotTables/VLOOKUP), donation platforms (Vanco, Tithe.ly).
Language: Fluent English; Gujarati/Hindi advantage for donor interactions.
Personal: Alignment with BAPS’s values (vegetarianism, no alcohol/smoking).

Base Salary: $55,000–$70,000/year (based on experience)
