Varalakshmi Vratam 2025: A Divine Celebration of the Goddess of Boons

— A Soulful Guide for Devotees Around the World
“Where there is faith, the Goddess of Fortune resides.”
Even in a land far from Bharata Desha, when the lamp of devotion is lit, Goddess Mahalakshmi descends with her divine presence.
When is Varalakshmi Vratam in 2025?
In 2025, Varalakshmi Vratam falls on Friday, 8th August, the sacred Friday before the full moon (Shravana Shukravaram) in the divine month of Shravana Masam, a time soaked in devotion to Mahadeva and Mahalakshmi.
The Divine Significance of Varalakshmi Vratam
This vratam is not just a ritual — it is a spiritual offering, a heartfelt prayer, and a soul’s surrender to Sri Varalakshmi Devi, the compassionate bestower of Varas (boons).
The ancient scriptures reveal that those who worship Varalakshmi on this day earn the merit of worshipping all Ashta Lakshmis:
- Adi Lakshmi – the primal source of abundance
- Dhana Lakshmi – the bestower of wealth
- Dhanya Lakshmi – the nourisher through grains
- Gaja Lakshmi – the protector of royal strength
- Santana Lakshmi – the giver of progeny
- Veera Lakshmi – the strength behind valor
- Vijaya Lakshmi – the secret of victory
- Vidya Lakshmi – the light of knowledge
The Origin of the Vratam
According to the Skanda Purana, when Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva for a vrata that could bestow prosperity and spiritual merit upon women, Lord Shiva revealed the sacred practice of Varalakshmi Vratam.
Thus, performing this vratam is said to bring the blessings of Mahalakshmi herself, along with health, wealth, peace, and family harmony.
