SV Temple is in Penn Hills, an eastern suburb of Pittsburgh, roughly 20 minutes drive from downtown Pittsburgh and 45 minutes from Pittsburgh International Airport. The campus sits on a gentle wooded hillside with ample parking and wheelchair-accessible ramps to both Venkateswara and Padmavati sanctums.

By air: Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) has direct Air India connection to Delhi (seasonal) and daily flights to all major US hubs; taxi to Penn Hills is 40–50 minutes. By car: From downtown Pittsburgh take the Parkway East (I-376) to Exit 78A (Wilkinsburg), then PA Route 791 north to McCully Drive. By train: Pittsburgh Amtrak Union Station is 14 km away with connections to Chicago, Washington DC and New York; Uber to the temple is about 20 minutes. Major US Interstates I-76 (PA Turnpike) and I-79 pass within 20 km.

For best darshan experience, visit on weekdays between 10 AM and noon or 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM — weekends are extremely crowded especially during Brahmotsavam (June), Vaikunta Ekadashi (Dec/Jan), and Tyagaraja Aradhana (January). Archana booking is available by phone (+1-412-373-3380) or at the on-site counter; for weekend archana it's wise to book one week in advance, and for Kalyanotsavam sponsorship, expect a 3-6 month wait for Saturdays. The temple maintains a helpful FAQ for first-time visitors in English, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi — pick up a printed copy at the priests' counter.

If you're travelling from outside Pittsburgh, note that Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) has direct Air India seasonal service to Delhi and year-round daily flights to all US hubs. The airport-to-temple route via I-376 Parkway East passes the Oakland university district and downtown Pittsburgh — a pleasant drive that also makes it easy to combine temple darshan with tourism at the Cathedral of Learning or the Carnegie Museum. For those arriving by train, Pittsburgh Amtrak Union Station has daily connections from Chicago (7 hours) and Washington DC (8 hours) with the popular Capitol Limited overnight service.

Where to Stay

Accommodation

The Temple Society operates a small on-campus guesthouse of 14 rooms for devotees visiting from outside Pennsylvania, bookable through the temple office for minimum 2-night stays. For walk-in visitors, nearby hotels include Hampton Inn Monroeville (6 km), SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh Monroeville (7 km), Holiday Inn Express Pittsburgh East (4 km), and premium options in Downtown Pittsburgh (Omni William Penn, Fairmont Pittsburgh). A dozen South Indian / Gujarati vegetarian restaurants operate within a 10 km radius, many owned by temple devotees and offering Venkateswara prasadam-style sattvic fare.

The Temple Society's 14-room guesthouse (Daily rate donation ~$75, bookable through temple office) is the most convenient option for multi-day visits but books out months in advance during festivals. The Hampton Inn Monroeville and Holiday Inn Express Pittsburgh East are the most popular walk-in choices, both offering complimentary breakfast and complimentary airport shuttle. For premium stays, Downtown Pittsburgh's Omni William Penn and Fairmont Pittsburgh are iconic historic hotels 25 minutes from the temple. The surrounding Penn Hills neighbourhood has excellent South Indian vegetarian restaurants — Udipi Cafe, Saravanaa Bhavan and Tamarind are all owned by temple devotees and adjust their menus during festival days to match temple prasadam traditions.
