Neasden sits in the London Borough of Brent in North-West London, roughly 20 minutes from central London by Underground. The Mandir has limited street parking but encourages public transport; on weekends, queues to enter can extend to 45 minutes during peak times, especially during Diwali and Janmashtami.
By air: London Heathrow (LHR) is the main international gateway at 22 km (35 min by Piccadilly Line to Green Park, then Jubilee to Neasden). Gatwick and Stansted offer alternatives. By Tube: Neasden Station on the Jubilee Line is an 8-minute walk; Wembley Park (Metropolitan/Jubilee) is 20 minutes away on foot. By train: The nearest National Rail station is Wembley Central (Bakerloo / Overground), 2.5 km away. By bus: Routes 112, 206, 232 and 245 stop outside the Mandir. By car: Parking is free but extremely limited; most visitors use the Tube.
If you are taking the Tube, the quickest route from central London is the Jubilee Line to Neasden station (8 minutes walk) — note the station is on a steep hill so wheelchair users should take the Metropolitan Line to Wembley Park instead (20 minutes walk, step-free access). The Mandir's Tube-map poster (free at the visitor centre) shows the best route from every central London hotel. For first-time visitors, allow 90 minutes for the Mandir itself plus 30 minutes for the Understanding Hinduism exhibition — a 2-hour total visit.
London's rain can be constant; bring an umbrella and note that the Mandir's main entrance courtyard is covered but the outdoor carved walk-around is exposed. Weekday morning visits offer the quietest darshan experience. On Diwali Annakut (the morning after Diwali), the Mandir closes to general visitors from 8 AM to 11 AM for the sacred Annakut procession and only reopens to the public at 11:30 AM; expect 2-3 hour queue times for Annakut darshan. The Mandir's online booking system offers reserved Annakut timed entry slots that bypass the general queue.
Wembley, Harrow and Kingsbury offer many affordable hotels within a 10-minute taxi ride of the Mandir — Hilton London Wembley, Novotel London Wembley, Holiday Inn London Wembley and Premier Inn Wembley are all within 3 km. Central London hotels (Paddington, Kings Cross, Earls Court) are 30–45 minutes away by Tube. Harlesden, Kingsbury and Wembley also host numerous Indian vegetarian restaurants (Saravanaa Bhavan, Ram’s, Maru’s Bhajia House) for devotees who prefer sattvic meals. The Mandir’s own Shayona Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is regarded as one of London’s finest pure-vegetarian Gujarati restaurants.
Wembley itself is the most convenient stay (3 km from the Mandir) with Hilton London Wembley, Novotel London Wembley and Ibis London Wembley offering affordable mid-range rooms. Visitors combining a Mandir visit with London tourism often prefer Paddington hotels (Hilton London Paddington, Novotel Paddington) for easy Heathrow Express access and central-London proximity — the Tube ride to Neasden takes 25 minutes. For budget travellers, Wembley's Premier Inn and Travelodge branches are reliable choices. Vegetarian dining in the Neasden-Wembley corridor is among the best in London, with the Mandir's Shayona Restaurant, Sakonis Wembley, Saravanaa Bhavan and the legendary Maru's Bhajia House all within a 15-minute walk of the Mandir.
