Devi (Saraswati) temple · Panachikkad, Kottayam, Kerala, India
Panachikkad Saraswathi Temple, revered as the 'Dakshina Mookambika' (Mookambika of the South), is a Hindu temple dedicated to Saraswati, goddess of learning and the arts, in Panachikkad village, Kottayam district, Kerala, according to Kerala Tourism and Onmanorama. The temple complex also has a Mahavishnu shrine.
Faith & Tradition
Unlike many Saraswati shrines where special worship is confined to Navarathri, poojas here continue throughout the year (Kerala Tourism). Popular belief holds that it is the only temple in Kerala where Saraswati's presence is felt all year round, Onmanorama notes, and Eenadu observes that the goddess is worshipped amid greenery rather than inside a conventional sanctum.
The temple holds an important Saraswathi Pooja in October–November and the Vidyarambham ceremony, at which children are initiated into letters (Kerala Tourism). The complex also has a shrine to a yakshi and an image of Brahma Rakshas (Onmanorama).
