Sri Ramakrishna Teertham Mukkoti: A Divine Blessing Once in a Lifetime Journey

O Devotees of Lord Venkateswara! In the sacred hills of Tirumala, where the Lord of Seven Hills resides as the protector of all souls, there lies a hidden treasure of immense spiritual potency — Sri Ramakrishna Teertham.
O Devotees of Lord Venkateswara! In the sacred hills of Tirumala, where the Lord of Seven Hills resides as the protector of all souls, there lies a hidden treasure of immense spiritual potency — Sri Ramakrishna Teertham. This holy spring, nestled deep within the dense forests of Seshachalam, opens its divine gates to the faithful only once every year, on the auspicious full moon day of Magha Masa — the sacred Magha Pournami.
Today, on this blessed occasion (February 1, 2026), let us bow in reverence and reflect upon the profound glory of Sri Ramakrishna Teertham Mukkoti. It is not merely a dip in water; it is a sacred communion with the Divine, a moment where the soul surrenders completely to wash away the accumulated sins of lifetimes.
The Eternal Legend of Sri Ramakrishna Teertham
In ancient times, the great sage Ramakrishna performed intense penance in these very forests, seeking the grace of Lord Srinivasa. Pleased with his unwavering devotion, the Lord appeared and blessed the spot, causing a pure, eternal spring to manifest. This teertham became known as Sri Ramakrishna Teertham in honor of the sage’s tapasya.
On the holy Magha Pournami, it is believed that three crores (Mukkoti) of sacred waters from all the holy rivers and teerthams of the universe converge here in a divine assembly. Hence, a single holy dip in this teertham on this day grants the spiritual merit equivalent to bathing in millions of sacred waters. It cleanses not only the body but purifies the mind, intellect, and soul, removing deep-rooted karma and paving the way for moksha (liberation).
O pilgrim! Imagine the grace flowing through you — every drop of this sacred water carrying the blessings of Lord Venkateswara Himself, dissolving your burdens, healing your inner wounds, and filling your heart with peace and devotion.
Spiritual Significance and Divine Grace
- Sin-Destroying Power: A bath here on Mukkoti day is said to eradicate even the gravest sins, granting paapa vimocana (liberation from sins).
- Mukti-Prada Teertham: Among the seven sacred teerthams of Tirumala, Sri Ramakrishna Teertham is revered as one that bestows mukti (salvation).
- Rare Opportunity: The teertham remains closed throughout the year, revealing itself only on this single divine day — a reminder that true spiritual treasures are earned through devotion and patience.
- Combined Bliss: Devotees who take the holy dip and then proceed for the darshan of Lord Venkateswara experience multiplied grace — the ultimate fulfillment of a Tirumala yatra.
With folded hands, let us chant: "Govinda! Govinda! Venkataramana Govinda!" May this sacred teertham purify us and draw us closer to the lotus feet of the Lord.
