Beloved devotees visiting Hindutone.com, your sacred portal to the eternal glories of Sanatan Dharma and the divine abode of Lord Venkateswara. As the auspicious Dhanurmasam dawns upon us in 2025-2026, the tirumala/" class="auto-interlink" data-interlink="1">Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has announced heartfelt special programs to immerse pilgrims in bhakti and spiritual bliss. Commencing from December 16, 2025, at 1:23 PM and concluding on January 14, 2026, this holy month dedicated to Lord Vishnu brings timeless traditions alive at the sacred hills of Tirumala and TTD-managed temples across India.
Dhanurmasam, also known as Margazhi in Tamil tradition, is a period of intense devotion when the Sun transits through Dhanu Rashi (Sagittarius). It is considered highly meritorious for Vishnu worship, early morning pujas, and recitation of divine hymns. In Sri Vaishnava sampradaya, this month honors Sri Goda Devi (Andal), the only female among the 12 Alwars, whose 30 sacred pasurams – the Tiruppavai – express profound longing for union with Lord Krishna (Venkateswara).
At the holy shrine of Sri Venkateswara Swamy in Tirumala, the daily pre-dawn ritual of Suprabhata Seva – the melodious awakening of the Lord – will be reverentially replaced by Tiruppavai Pasura Parayanam from December 17, 2025, onwards. Each day, one pasuram from Andal's divine composition will be chanted before the Moolavirat, infusing the sanctum with her pure bhakti. This ancient tradition reminds us that during Dhanurmasam, the Lord's awakening is through the voice of His greatest devotee, Andal, symbolizing surrender and divine love.
Pilgrims planning Suprabhata Seva during this period should note that tickets will not be issued, allowing the focus to shift entirely to this devotional recitation. The atmosphere in Tirumala becomes even more charged with spirituality, drawing millions closer to Balaji's grace.
Extending this divine vibration beyond Tirumala, TTD is organizing elaborate Tiruppavai discourses by eminent scholars from December 16, 2025, to January 14, 2026. The inaugural session will be held on December 15, 2025, at 5:30 PM in Annamacharya Kalamandiram, Tirupati, graced by the Tirumala Pontiffs and scholars like Acharya Chakravarti Ranganathan.
These enlightening pravachans will take place daily at six venues in Tirupati and an impressive 233 centers across India, reaching devotees in every corner of Bharat. Under TTD's Alwar Divya Prabandha Project, this nationwide initiative spreads Andal's message of selfless devotion, fasting, and seeking the Lord's feet – inspiring modern seekers to embrace vrata and bhakti in daily life.
In TTD's local temples, special programs enhance the sanctity:
- Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Srinivasa Mangapuram: Tiruppavai Parayanam in solitude from 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM (December 17 to January 14), followed by special Dhanurmasa darshan. No Suprabhata Seva tickets during this time.
- Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, Tirupati: Tiruppavai from 4:00 AM to 5:30 AM, then Dhanurmasa darshan till 6:30 AM.
- Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, Tiruchanoor: Daily Dhanurmasa Ghanta and darshan from 5:15 AM to 6:15 AM. Sahasra Deepalankara Seva cancelled on December 16 evening.
- Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Appalayagunta: Tiruppavai and special poojas from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM, followed by darshan.
These observances allow devotees to experience the Lord's grace in intimate settings, fostering deeper connection.
Amid these devotional celebrations, TTD has unveiled a visionary ecological and spiritual initiative: the Divine Plantation Project. Announced by TTD Trust Board Chairman Sri BR Naidu on December 13, 2025, this pioneering effort allocates 100 acres of TTD land to cultivate sacred tree species approved by Agama Shastras.
The primary aim is to grow "Temple Trees" for crafting Dwajasthambhams – the holy flag masts central to every Agama-compliant Hindu temple. These masts, hoisted with Garuda flags during Brahmotsavams, symbolize divine presence and the link between earth and heaven. Traditionally carved from single mature trees like teak or Shorea species, they require ritual sanctification.
By nurturing these trees organically on its own lands, TTD ensures:
- Agamic purity: Timber grown in sanctified soil, free from external sourcing issues.
- Spiritual integrity: Trees consecrated through Vedic rites from sapling stage.
- Ecological sustainability: Promoting green cover while preserving ancient traditions.
- Self-reliance: Meeting needs for over 60 temples managed by TTD and new Sri Venkateswara shrines across India.
This makes TTD the first temple institution in India to systematically cultivate sacred trees for Dwajasthambhams – a forward-thinking step aligning with Sanatan Dharma's harmony with nature. As Chairman Naidu stated, it reflects TTD's commitment under Andhra Pradesh CM Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu to preserve heritage responsibly.
Devotees worldwide applaud this blend of devotion and environmental stewardship, seeing it as Lord Venkateswara's leela guiding humanity towards dharma and prakriti samrakshana.
Dhanurmasam teaches us Andal's essence: simple, pure bhakti conquers all. Her Tiruppavai vows – early rising, fasting, singing Hari's names – mirror modern wellness yet lead to moksha. In Tirumala's serene dawn, chanting these pasurams transports souls to Vrindavan's divine play.
Sample Tiruppavai Pasuram (First Day): Mārgazhi thingal madhi nirainda nannālam... (Recite daily for blessings of health, prosperity, and Vishnu pada.)
As Dhanurmasam unfolds, let us awaken early, chant Tiruppavai, offer naivedyam, and seek Balaji's refuge. Participate in local discourses or visit Tirumala for this rare spiritual immersion.
On Hindutone.com, we bring you these divine updates to nourish your faith. Plan your pilgrimage, embrace the vrata, and let Andal's devotion guide you to eternal bliss.
Jai Sri Venkateswara! Jai Goda Devi! Om Namo Narayanaya!
