Bindumandalavasini (बिन्दुमण्डलवासिनी, IAST: Bindumaṇḍalavāsinī) is a Sanskrit-origin Hindu girl-name meaning “She who dwells in the sacred circle of the bindu”. Bindu is the supreme point of undivided consciousness at the apex of the Śrī Yantra; maṇḍala is its sacred geometric field; and vāsinī means the one who lovingly resides therein.

Meaning, etymology & significance

In Śrī Vidyā Tantra, the bindu is the most exalted point of the Śrī Cakra, representing the undivided unity of Śiva and Śakti before manifestation. The bindumaṇḍala is the innermost sanctum of the yantra, and the Goddess is said to be enthroned there as pure, self-luminous consciousness. To meditate upon Lalitā as Bindumaṇḍalavāsinī is to seek her at the very source-point of all creation.

This name is used in the Śrī Vidyā tradition specifically to describe Lalitā in her para (supreme) aspect at the apex of the Śrī Yantra. Vāsinī or Vasini is the more practical standalone name that may be derived from this epithet; the full compound is reserved for liturgical recitation.
