Rasashevadhih (रसशेवधि, IAST: Rasaśevadhiḥ) is a Sanskrit-origin Hindu girl-name meaning “The treasury overflowing with divine rasa”. Śevadhiḥ is a Vedic-Sanskrit word for a hidden treasure or sacred hoard, and combined with rasa it paints Lalitā as the inexhaustible vault of blissful divine essence from which all creation drinks.

Meaning, etymology & significance

Śevadhiḥ appears in Vedic and classical texts to mean a treasure buried in the earth or hidden in a secret place, conveying preciousness and inexhaustibility. When joined with rasa — the essential juice, flavour, or divine bliss that permeates existence — the compound names Lalitā as the concealed wellspring of all sacred delight. Just as a treasury releases wealth without being depleted, she pours forth rasa endlessly to every devotee who approaches in love.

This is one of the rarer compound epithets of the Sahasranāma and functions more as a meditative description than a conventional given name; however, it could be lovingly shortened to Rasashevadhih in a literary or spiritual context. Pronounced ra-sa-sheh-va-dhi, with stress on the second syllable of śevadhiḥ.
