Vedajanani (वेदजननी, IAST: Vedajananī) is a Sanskrit-origin Hindu girl-name meaning “She who is the mother and source of the Vedas. Composed of veda (the sacred scriptures of eternal knowledge) and jananī (mother, she who gives birth), this name exalts Lalithā as the primordial source from which all Vedic revelation flows.

Meaning, etymology & significance

Jananī derives from the root jan (to be born, to generate) and is one of the most tender words for mother in Sanskrit. By calling Lalithā Vedajananī, the stotra affirms that the four Vedas themselves are her children — emanations of her supreme consciousness rather than merely human compositions.

This epithet echoes the Devī Bhāgavata's teaching that the Goddess manifests as Vāk (sacred speech) and thus is the origin of all scriptural wisdom; as a given name it is rare but deeply meaningful, pronounced ve-da-ja-na-NEE.
