Vedavedya (वेदवेद्या, IAST: Vedavedyā) is a Sanskrit-origin Hindu girl-name meaning “She who is knowable only through the Vedas. Formed from veda (sacred knowledge, the Vedas) and vedyā (that which is to be known), this name honours Lalithā as the supreme reality that the entire Vedic revelation strives to reveal.

Meaning, etymology & significance

Vedyā is a gerundive of the root vid (to know), meaning 'worthy of being known' or 'that which must be known.' The compound thus declares that the Vedas themselves exist for the sole purpose of illuminating the Goddess, placing her at the very summit of all sacred knowledge.

This epithet aligns with the Upaniṣadic teaching that Brahman alone is the ultimate object of all knowledge; Lalithā, as Vedavedyā, is identified with that Brahman, pronounced ve-da-ve-DYAA.
