What Is True Poverty?

⚜️🌿🌿🌿🥀🥀🥀🍂🍂🍂⚜️

Poverty does not merely mean the absence of wealth. True poverty is abandoning Dharma and tradition while remaining dissatisfied with what one has. Although Kuchela (Sudama) appeared to be materially poor, he lived a righteous life, practiced Vedic Dharma, and remained ever content. He was personally honored by the Supreme Lord Himself. Therefore, he was not poor at all; rather, he attained the highest form of spiritual wealth.

On the other hand, those who possessed immense wealth but strayed from Dharma, burned with endless desires, ignored the words of elders, abandoned righteousness, traditions, family deities, and their own duties, and promoted unrighteous conduct—such as Ravana, Kamsa, the Kauravas, and other demons—may have appeared prosperous outwardly, but they were the ones who truly experienced poverty.

Seeking the grace of God, following the path of Dharma, worshipping one's family deity, performing one's prescribed duties, observing sacred traditions and customs, and serving the Guru's holy feet—these alone constitute true wealth. Everything contrary to these is poverty.
