Prajnapāramiteshvara (प्रज्ञापारमितेश्वर, IAST: Prajñāpāramiteśvara) is a Sanskrit-origin Hindu boy-name meaning “Lord of the perfection of transcendent wisdom”. From prajñā (wisdom), pāramitā (perfection, that which reaches the far shore), and īśvara (lord), this name exalts Viṣṇu as the sovereign master of wisdom carried to its ultimate, boundless shore.

Meaning, etymology & significance

The compound prajñā-pāramitā evokes wisdom that has crossed beyond all limitation, a concept found in both Vedāntic and Buddhist thought yet here firmly rooted in Vaiṣṇava theology. Viṣṇu as its Īśvara is not merely wise but is himself the very ground from which all perfected knowing arises. This name invites the devotee to seek in the Lord the final harbour of understanding.

As an epithet it appears in the extended Viṣṇu Sahasranāma traditions celebrating Viṣṇu's omniscient sovereignty; the name is pronounced praj-nyā-pā-ra-mi-teś-va-ra with stress on the third syllable of each segment.
