Even with crores in wealth, a life without a loved one beside you is heartbreaking. The truest wealth is greeting your parents with love while they are still alive.

In Mumbai, an elderly mother — owner of properties worth crores — had a son who was a senior engineer in the USA, with money, status and position. Yet for nearly 18 months he did not even call her.

When the son finally came from the USA to India and opened the house, he found his mother's body still seated on the sofa. She was believed to have died nearly ten months earlier.

Crores of property, a big job, a life in America — and yet the mother was utterly alone. This is not merely a tragedy; it is a question about where our society is heading.

What are we teaching our children?

We teach our children big degrees, wish them big jobs, and tell them to earn money. But —

Money can make a person wealthy — but love, service and humanity are what make a person truly a "human being."
