Odyanapithanilaya (ओड्याणपीठनिलया, IAST: Oḍyāṇapīṭhanilayā) is an Sanskrit-origin Hindu girl-name meaning “She whose abode is the sacred seat of Oḍyāṇa”. Oḍyāṇa (also spelled Uḍḍīyāna) is one of the four primary Śākta pīṭhas celebrated in Tantra, and nilayā means she who makes it her cherished dwelling-place.

Meaning, etymology & significance

Uḍḍīyāna or Oḍyāṇa is revered in both the Śākta and Vajrayāna traditions as a supreme centre of esoteric wisdom, traditionally identified with the Swat Valley region. As a pīṭha it is associated with the navel of the Goddess, the creative centre of the cosmos. This name of Lalitā reveals her as the living presence who sanctifies and inhabits this most potent of sacred sites.

The epithet is used for Lalitā in her role as the universal Pīṭha-devī who pervades every sacred seat described in Tantra śāstra. The compound is elaborate and best understood as a devotional title; the element Oḍyāṇa could serve as a short form, though it is unusual as a standalone given name.
