[image: 📖] What is Navratri? | नवरात्रि का अर्थ और महत्व Navratri (नवरात्रि), meaning “Nine Nights,” is one of the most joyous and powerful Hindu festivals dedicated to the Divine Feminine — Maa Durga (Shakti). It celebrates the triumph of good over evil and honors the nine sacred forms of Goddess Durga, known as Nav Durga.
For NRIs living far from India, Navratri brings the warmth of home — through fasting, vibrant Garba and Dandiya nights, family gatherings, temple visits, and heartfelt aartis. The most widely celebrated is Shardiya Navratri in autumn (usually September–October).
Navratri 2026 Dates (Shardiya):
- Starts: Sunday, 11 October 2026 (Ghatasthapana)
- Ends: Monday, 19 October 2026 (Vijayadashami / Dussehra)
Each of the nine nights is dedicated to a specific form of Maa Durga. Devotees perform morning and evening aarti to seek her blessings for strength, protection, prosperity, and inner peace — especially meaningful when living abroad.
[image: 🔱] The Sacred Story of Maa Durga | माँ दुर्गा की पावन कथा Long ago, the demon king Mahishasura received a boon that no man or god could defeat him. He terrorized the heavens and earth. The gods, helpless, prayed together to the Supreme Power. From their combined divine energy emerged Maa Durga — a radiant goddess with ten arms, seated on a lion, holding weapons gifted by all the deities.
For nine days and nine nights, she battled Mahishasura and his forces. On the tenth day (Vijayadashami), she slayed the demon, restoring dharma and peace. This eternal story reminds us that the Divine Mother within every devotee helps overcome inner and outer challenges — a message that resonates strongly with NRIs facing life’s struggles far from their roots.
