Panchangam 3 November 2026 (Tuesday): Krishna Navami, Magha Nakshatra, Hanuman and Durga Puja and Today's Tithi
Tuesday 3 November 2026 is an ordinary day in the waning fortnight: Krishna Navami until 11:54 AM in Hyderabad, then Dashami, with Magha nakshatra all day. Tuesday belongs to Hanuman and the Divine Mother, and Magha, the nakshatra of the ancestors, invites a moment of gratitude for those who came before us.

Quick answer: Tuesday 3 November 2026 has no major festival. In Hyderabad the tithi is Krishna Navami until 11:54 AM, then Dashami, and the nakshatra is Magha through the day. Tuesday is kept for Hanuman and the Divine Mother: a lamp, the Hanuman Chalisa or a short mantra makes a complete observance.
Navami is the ninth tithi, the one on which, in the bright half of Chaitra, Rama was born. Hanuman is Rama's greatest devotee, so a Navami on a Tuesday is a lovely day to think about service: strength used for others, never for show. Add Magha, the nakshatra of the ancestors, and today's theme almost writes itself. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, and we carry their blessings into Diwali week.

Religious significance
Hanuman's devotion to Rama is told in the Valmiki Ramayana, above all in the Sundara Kanda, where he crosses the ocean to find Sita. His popular worship on Tuesdays (and Saturdays) is a living tradition of later devotion, shaped greatly by Tulsidas, the author of the Ramcharitmanas, to whom the Hanuman Chalisa is traditionally attributed.
Magha nakshatra is associated with the Pitris. You do not need a shraddha or a priest to honour them today. Saying the names of your grandparents, lighting a lamp in their memory, or doing one kind act in their name is a heartfelt remembrance. In many households the Navami of the morning is also given to the Divine Mother, so a red flower before a picture of Durga fits naturally beside the Hanuman lamp.
Puja vidhi
- Essential: after your bath, light a lamp before Hanuman (or Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman together), offer a flower and chant the mantra below.
- Optional: sindoor and jasmine oil at a Hanuman temple, a garland of betel leaves, jaggery and roasted chana as prasad, and the Hanuman Chalisa.
- Evening: a lamp after the 05:44 PM sunset; some families recite the Sundara Kanda in parts on Tuesdays.
No materials? Sit quietly, remember Hanuman's leap across the ocean, and chant the mantra eleven times. Offer your day's work to Rama, as Hanuman did.
Mantra for the day
Om Hanumate Namah (IAST: oṃ hanumate namaḥ). Meaning: "Om, salutations to Hanuman." It is the simplest and most widely used name-mantra of Hanuman and can be chanted by anyone. Chant 11 or 108 times.
What you can do today
- Read the Hanuman Chalisa once, slowly, or listen to it on the way to work.
- Light a lamp for your ancestors and say their names aloud (Magha nakshatra).
- Offer jaggery and roasted chana, then share it with family or colleagues.
- Give an hour of help to someone who needs it, in the spirit of Hanuman's seva.
- Continue the Diwali clean-up and check your diyas and oil.
- Plan for Rama Ekadashi on Thursday: decide whether you will fast fully, partly or simply pray.
For families and children
Children love Hanuman. Read them the story of how he carried the whole mountain because he could not identify the sanjeevani herb, then ask what they would do if they were not sure. It is a gentle way to talk about trying your best. Older children can draw a family tree for Magha day and write one thing they know about each grandparent.

Frequently asked questions

What are the tithi and nakshatra today?
Krishna Navami until 11:54 AM IST, then Dashami. The nakshatra is Magha until 03:26 AM on 4 November, and the yoga is Shukla until 09:54 AM.
Why is Tuesday dedicated to Hanuman?
Tuesday (Mangalavara) is the day of Mars, and in popular devotion across India it is widely kept for Hanuman, as well as for Durga and, in the South, Subrahmanya. It is a living custom rather than a rule laid down in one text.
What does Magha nakshatra signify?
In the traditional nakshatra lists, Magha is presided over by the Pitris, the ancestors, and its symbol is a royal throne. Many people use a Magha day to remember their forefathers with gratitude.
A closing thought
Strength that serves, memory that gives thanks: let Hanuman and the ancestors walk with you today. Jai Hanuman.
