A day-by-day November 2026 Hindu calendar for continental Europe: tithi and sunrise in Amsterdam for all 30 days, Diwali-week dates for the Central European time zone (Drik Panchang's Germany calendar as reference), calculated Karthika Masam dates for 21 European cities, and why Dublin and Lisbon start Karthika a day earlier.

Quick answer: for most of continental Europe, the key November 2026 Hindu festivals are Dhanteras on Friday 6 November, Diwali and Naraka Chaturdashi on Sunday 8 November, Govardhan Puja on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November (Drik Panchang's Germany dates, used here for the Central European time zone). Karthika Masam begins on Tuesday 10 November in most cities, Devutthana Ekadashi is Friday 20 November, Tulasi Vivah Saturday 21 November and Karthika Pournami Tuesday 24 November.
Below: a 30-day calendar for Amsterdam, a comparison with India, the places where Europe itself is split, and links to our country guides.
One continent, three clocks
Hindu families in Europe live across several time zones. Most of the continent, from Amsterdam and Brussels to Paris, Zurich, Milan, Madrid, Vienna, Copenhagen and Warsaw, is on Central European Time after the clocks went back on Sunday 25 October, four and a half hours behind India. Ireland and Portugal sit an hour further west, and Finland an hour further east. That spread is enough to move a festival by a day in some places.
In Amsterdam, sunrise slides from 7:34 AM on 1 November to 8:23 AM on 30 November, and sunset from 5:12 PM to 4:33 PM. In the Nordic capitals the afternoons are even shorter, so lamps for the Karthika evenings are lit well before the end of the working day. Compared with India, the Central European dates this month differ for: Govardhan Puja, Annakut, Bali Pratipada, Bhai Dooj / Yama Dwitiya.

Where Europe is split
Karthika Masam start: our calculation begins Karthika on Tuesday 10 November in Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Rome, Madrid, Stockholm, Warsaw and Helsinki, but on Monday 9 November in Dublin and Monday 9 November in Lisbon. Those two cities therefore have an extra Karthika Somavaram on that Monday, while the rest of the continent has three in November: Monday 16 November, Monday 23 November, Monday 30 November.
UK, Ireland and Portugal for Diwali week: Drik Panchang's UK calendar keeps Naraka Chaturdashi on Saturday 7 November, Govardhan Puja on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November. Readers in Ireland and Portugal, who share the UK's clock, should compare with the November 2026 UK calendar and confirm with their temple. Readers in Germany have their own November 2026 calendar for Germany.
Far north: our calculation flags tithi changes very close to sunrise around Diwali in Oslo and Helsinki, so families there should be especially careful to follow a local temple calendar for those days.
Diwali week across Europe
Dhanteras on Friday 6 November starts the season with a small purchase of metal and a lamp for Yama. In the Central European zone, the Naraka Chaturdashi oil bath and the evening Lakshmi Puja both fall on Sunday 8 November, a Sunday, which makes it easy to gather family and friends. Govardhan Puja and Annakut follow on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November, each a day earlier than in India. See Lakshmi Puja muhurat 2026 by European city and Diwali 2026 in European countries.
Karthika Masam, Nagula Chavithi and the Somavarams
Karthika, the month of lamps, is kept by Telugu, Kannada and Tamil families across Europe with Monday fasts, an evening deepam and Shiva worship. Nagula Chavithi, when milk is offered to the serpent deities, is Friday 13 November in our European calculation, the same as India. Vrishchika Sankranti and Skanda Sashti have no European dates in our data; India keeps them on Monday 16 November and Sunday 15 November, and abroad they may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple. Read Karthika Masam 2026 in Europe, city by city and Karthika Somavaram 2026 in Europe.
Chhath Puja
India's main evening arghya is Sunday 15 November, with the dawn arghya the next morning. We have no European date: abroad it may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple or community. For local sunset and sunrise times, see Chhath Puja 2026 arghya times in Europe.
Devutthana Ekadashi to Karthika Pournami
Devutthana Ekadashi, the waking of Vishnu, is Friday 20 November and Tulasi Vivah with Ksheerabdi Dwadashi is Saturday 21 November in every European city in our calculation, the same as India. See Dev Uthani Ekadashi and Tulsi Vivah 2026 in Europe and Ksheerabdi Dwadashi in Europe.
Vaikuntha Chaturdashi has no European date in our data (India: Monday 23 November); abroad it may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple. Karthika Pournami, Dev Diwali and Karthigai Deepam fall together on Tuesday 24 November. Read Karthika Pournami 2026 in Europe.
Smaller vrats
Ahoi Ashtami (India: Sunday 1 November), Rama Ekadashi (Thursday 5 November), Masik Shivaratri (Saturday 7 November), Ravi Pradosh (Sunday 22 November), Ganadhipa Sankashti (Friday 27 November) and Kalabhairav Jayanti (Tuesday 1 December) have no European dates in our data: abroad they may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple. See November 2026 vrat and fasting days.
Practical notes for Hindus in Europe
- Know your zone: if you live in Ireland or Portugal, check the UK dates; in Finland, check your temple, as the clock is an hour ahead of Central Europe.
- Small communities: where there is no temple nearby, many families coordinate puja dates through community associations or student groups; agree on one calendar in advance.
- Fire safety: rules on open flames and fireworks vary by country and building, so use diyas on metal trays and LED lamps on balconies.
- Health: anyone pregnant, elderly, diabetic or on medication should keep a light fast or ask a doctor first.
Shiva temples across Europe are described in general terms in Shiva temples in Europe for Karthika Masam; check each temple's website for timings.
Frequently asked questions
When is Diwali 2026 in Europe?
In the Central European time zone (the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Austria, Scandinavia and Poland), our reference is Drik Panchang's calendar for Germany: Diwali and Naraka Chaturdashi on Sunday 8 November, Govardhan Puja on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November. In the UK, Drik keeps Naraka Chaturdashi a day earlier, on Saturday 7 November.
Why do Dublin and Lisbon start Karthika Masam on a different day?
Our calculation starts Karthika on Monday 9 November in Dublin and Monday 9 November in Lisbon, but on Tuesday 10 November in Amsterdam, Paris, Rome and most other cities. Ireland and Portugal keep Western European time, an hour behind the continent, so the new moon has already ended at their Monday sunrise. They also gain a Karthika Somavaram that day.
When is Karthika Pournami 2026 in Europe?
On Tuesday 24 November in every European city in our data. In Amsterdam the Purnima tithi runs from Mon 23 Nov, 7:13 PM to Tue 24 Nov, 3:54 PM local time, so it covers Monday evening but ends before Tuesday's sunset. Temples differ on which evening they light the deepam.
Are these European dates from Drik Panchang?
The Diwali-week dates are Drik Panchang's dates for Germany, used as a reference for the Central European time zone. The Karthika dates and the daily tithi are calculated by HinduTone with Drik's rules and validated against Drik Panchang. Confirm with your temple for your city.
Is the time difference with India the same across Europe?
No. After the clocks went back on 25 October, Central European cities are four and a half hours behind India, Ireland and Portugal five and a half, and Finland three and a half. We never convert Indian puja times; all times here are local.
Editor's note and methodology
Editor's note (9 October 2026): This calendar has been restored at its original address. Amsterdam's daily tithi, nakshatra and sunrise, and the Karthika dates for 21 European cities, were calculated with HinduTone's panchang calculator using Drik Panchang's rules and validated against Drik Panchang. Diwali-week dates are Drik Panchang's dates for Germany, used as a reference for the Central European time zone, and UK dates are from Drik Panchang's UK calendar. India dates are from Drik Panchang for Hyderabad. Where we have no European date, we show India's and say so. We never convert Indian times. Please confirm with your temple.
