For the sthapana (installation)
- Clay (shadu) Ganesha idol — unpainted or naturally coloured
- Chowki / wooden platform (peeta)
- Red or yellow cloth (never black)
- Kalash — copper/brass pot, water, a coin, akshata, 5 mango leaves, a coconut
- Mango-leaf toran and marigold for the doorway
For the puja
- Haldi, kumkum, gulal, abir
- Akshata (unbroken rice mixed with a little haldi)
- Chandan (sandalwood paste), janeu (sacred thread)
- Panchamrita — milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar
- Gangajal / clean water
- Camphor, incense sticks, dhoop
- Two oil lamps, cotton wicks, ghee or sesame oil
- Aarti thali, bell, and a conch if you have one
Flowers & leaves
- Red hibiscus (japa pushpa), marigold, red flowers
- Durva grass — at least 21 blades, ideally more

- Mango and banana leaves
Naivedya (offerings)
- Modak — 21 is traditional (ukadiche or fried)
- Ladoo; undrallu / kudumulu (Telugu); kozhukattai (Tamil)

- Betel leaves, areca nut and a few coins
Decoration
- Banana stems, sugarcane, palavelli fruits
- Rangoli colours
- Mango-leaf toran (avoid thermocol/plastic — use natural materials)
