Stories of Grace

Words from those whose lives were touched within these walls.

My first irumudi was 12 years ago. Climbing the 18 steps that night, with no torch, only the chant of Saranam — I understood why my father wept the day he came down.

Saneesh Pillai

Forty-one days of vratham. No shoes, no shaving, no comforts. The first cool drop of the Pampa on my forehead — that was prasadam enough for the year.

M
Murugan Velu
Chennai, India

Watching the Makara Jyothi rise as I held my husband's hand — that flame is still burning somewhere in my chest.

D
Devika Menon

My father carried me up these hills as a baby. Forty years later I carried him on my shoulders for his last darshan. Swamiye Sharanam Ayyappa.
