About the Temple
Shree Ghanapathy Temple is a leading Hindu organisation in South-West London and historically the first fully consecrated South Indian Hindu temple in Europe. Dedicated to Lord Ghanapathy (Ganesha), it is well known for worship, multi-faith engagement, religious education and community service.
Role & Responsibilities
As a Religious Worker / Hindu Priest you will perform daily poojas, abhishekam, alankaram and archana per strict Hindu Agamas; prepare daily neivedyam (madapalli cooking in the South Indian tradition); conduct samskaras and funeral/general assistant services where required; and guide any assistant priests so all rituals run on time in a sanctified manner.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Affirmation of the Hindu faith with training/experience under a senior priest in the Vedas and Agamas.
- Willingness to serve both Saiva and Vaishnava traditions.
- Brahmin lineage and recognised priestly training acceptable to the panel.
- Exemplary character; vegetarian; abstaining from alcohol and tobacco.
- Language ability in English plus Tamil/Malayalam is valued.
