Job Description

The Cook will be responsible for preparing a variety of North Indian vegetarian dishes, ensuring exceptional taste and presentation while adhering to food safety standards. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen while maintaining a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook authentic North Indian vegetarian dishes, ensuring consistency in flavor, quality, and presentation.
• Multitask efficiently to handle multiple orders during peak hours, including festivals and temple events.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with Australian regulations.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
• Assist in menu planning and recipe development, incorporating traditional North Indian flavors.
• Manage inventory, including checking stock levels and minimizing food wastage.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including proper storage of ingredients.
• Engage with customers courteously, addressing special requests or dietary requirements when needed.
• Contribute to a positive team environment, supporting colleagues in a busy kitchen setting.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of professional cooking experience, preferably in Indian or vegetarian cuisine.
• Strong knowledge of North Indian cuisine, including regional recipes, spices, and cooking techniques.
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact positively with diverse patrons.
• Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment, especially during temple festivals.
• Familiarity with food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
• Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
• Knowledge of other regional Indian cuisines (e.g., South Indian, Gujarati) is a plus.

Qualifications

• Relevant culinary training or certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Indian languages (e.g., Hindi, Tamil, or Punjabi) is an advantage.
