Vivah Muhurat 2026-27: Shubh Marriage Dates from November 2026 to March 2027 (New Delhi and Hyderabad, per Drik Panchang)
Drik Panchang lists 40 marriage muhurat dates between 21 November 2026 and 14 March 2027 for New Delhi and Hyderabad. Here are all of them with the exact windows, nakshatra and tithi, why there are no dates from mid-December to 14 January, and how families abroad should get a list for their own city.

Quick answer: Drik Panchang lists 40 vivah (marriage) muhurat dates between Sat 21 Nov 2026 and Sun 14 Mar 2027 for New Delhi, and the same dates for Hyderabad. Weddings open after Dev Uthani Ekadashi on 20 November 2026, pause from 13 December 2026 to 14 January 2027 for Kharmas (Dhanurmasam), and stop again from 15 March 2027. Every list here follows Drik Panchang's marriage-muhurat method for one city; your own family priest or panchang has the final word.

How to read the tables: times are Indian Standard Time, as Drik prints them. In a panchang the day runs from sunrise to sunrise, so a window such as '11:25 PM to 6:52 AM next day' belongs to the date in the first column even though it ends the following morning, and a window marked 'early hours of' falls after midnight but before sunrise, so it too is counted with the date in the first column. A window is the span in which the stars and tithi are suitable; the priest then picks the exact lagna for the pheras, saptapadi or mangalya dharana inside it. Some days have two separate windows, shown one after the other.

No marriage muhurat from 13 December 2026 to 14 January 2027: Kharmas and Dhanurmasam
After Sat 12 Dec 2026 the calendar closes for about a month. From 13 to 15 December 2026 Drik finds no suitable nakshatra. On Wednesday 16 December 2026 the Sun enters Dhanu (Sagittarius), and Drik marks the whole solar month, up to and including Thursday 14 January 2027, as prohibited for weddings. In North India this month is called Kharmas; in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka it is Dhanurmasam or Margazhi, a month many families keep for dawn worship and Tiruppavai rather than weddings.
Makar Sankranti falls on Friday 15 January 2027, and Drik's list resumes that same day. Families who follow a stricter local custom sometimes wait a little longer; ask your priest.
Why the list starts on 21 November: Chaturmas and Dev Uthani
Chaturmas, the four months from Devshayani Ekadashi in Ashadha to Dev Uthani (Prabodhini) Ekadashi in Kartika, is traditionally a time when weddings are not held. Drik marks every day up to 19 November 2026 as 'Prohibited Chaturmas' and shows Friday 20 November, Dev Uthani Ekadashi, as only partly clear. Many families mark the reopening with Tulsi Vivah, the ceremonial wedding of Tulsi and Vishnu, which some keep on Dev Uthani day and others on Dwadashi, Saturday 21 November.
Shukra and Guru asta in 2026-27
When Venus (Shukra) or Jupiter (Guru) is too close to the Sun to be seen, many traditions avoid weddings. This season is clear of both. Drik's 2026 list marks Shukra Tara Asta from 12 to 28 October 2026 and the three 'young Venus' days (Shishutva Shukra) from 29 to 31 October, all while Chaturmas was still running. Its lists show no Venus or Jupiter combustion between November 2026 and March 2027. The next Shukra asta in Drik's 2027 list is from 20 July to 9 September 2027, outside this guide.
North Indian and Telugu wedding dates: why lists differ
The New Delhi and Hyderabad lists above come from the same Drik method, so their dates match and only the sunrise-based times change. That is not the same as a traditional Telugu muhurtham list. In Telugu homes the purohit usually fixes the muhurtham from a Telugu panchangam, matches the couple's stars (see our porutham guide), and chooses the lagna for the mangalya dharana and talambralu. Regional panchangams can include days that Drik leaves out, or the other way round, because the classical texts give more than one view on nakshatras, yogas and months.
A few common differences to expect: many Telugu families avoid weddings for all of Dhanurmasam and are most busy in Magha and Phalguna, which fall in roughly February and March 2027; North Indian families often watch Kharmas and the Holashtak days before Holi. Use the dates here as a shortlist to discuss, not as a final decision.
Living abroad? Vivah muhurat lists are city-specific
A muhurat list belongs to one place. The windows above are worked out from sunrise, the Moon's nakshatra and the tithi as seen for New Delhi and for Hyderabad, and the rising sign (lagna) that a priest chooses inside a window depends on the local horizon. That is why we do not publish lists for American, Canadian, British or Australian cities: a converted Indian list is not a list for your city, and we will not print one that looks like it is.
There are two separate questions, and they have different answers:
- Which day and window suits our city? Use a panchang that lets you set your own city, such as Drik Panchang's muhurat pages with your city chosen at the top of the page, or ask the priest at your local temple, who works from a panchang set to your city. Treat that as the list for your ceremony.
- When does the India window fall on my clock? This is useful when grandparents in India join online, or when an India-based priest guides the ceremony over video. Take the IST time and apply the difference in the table below. A window that starts after midnight in India can fall on the previous calendar date abroad.
| Where you are | Clock this winter | To read an India (IST) time on your clock |
|---|---|---|
| New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Toronto | Eastern Standard Time, UTC−5 | subtract 10 h 30 min (9 h 30 min from 14 March 2027) |
| Chicago, Houston, Dallas | Central Standard Time, UTC−6 | subtract 11 h 30 min (10 h 30 min from 14 March 2027) |
| San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Seattle | Pacific Standard Time, UTC−8 | subtract 13 h 30 min (12 h 30 min from 14 March 2027) |
| Vancouver (British Columbia) | UTC−7 all winter | subtract 12 h 30 min |
| Calgary, Edmonton (Alberta) | UTC−6 all winter | subtract 11 h 30 min |
| Winnipeg (Manitoba) | UTC−5 all winter | subtract 10 h 30 min |
| London, Leicester, Birmingham | GMT, UTC+0 | subtract 5 h 30 min |
| Dubai, Abu Dhabi | UTC+4 | subtract 1 h 30 min |
| Singapore, Kuala Lumpur | UTC+8 | add 2 h 30 min |
| Sydney, Melbourne | AEDT, UTC+11 | add 5 h 30 min |
Clocks used: US cities and Ontario stay on standard time from 1 November 2026 until the second Sunday of March, which is 14 March 2027, when they move one hour forward. Under the new provincial rules, British Columbia stays on UTC−7, Alberta on UTC−6 and Manitoba on UTC−5 all winter, with no change in March. Some apps have not caught up with the provincial change yet, so check that your app shows the right clock for your city.
Before you book the hall
- Shortlist two or three dates from the tables and take them to your family priest with both horoscopes.
- Ask the priest for the exact lagna time inside the window, and plan the ceremony schedule around it rather than around the hall's standard slot.
- For a window that runs past midnight, check that the venue, caterer and priest can work at that hour.
- Abroad, confirm the date with the temple or priest who will perform the ceremony, using a panchang set to your city.
- Leave room for family custom: some families add their own rules about months, weekdays or the bride's and groom's birth stars.
A muhurat is a way of beginning a marriage with care and prayer. It does not promise any particular outcome, and a date outside these lists is not a reason for fear. Many couples marry on a date chosen for practical reasons with their priest's blessing.

Frequently asked questions
When do wedding muhurats start after Chaturmas in 2026?
Dev Uthani (Prabodhini) Ekadashi is on Friday 20 November 2026, and Drik Panchang treats that day as only partly free of Chaturmas. The first marriage muhurat in Drik's lists for both New Delhi and Hyderabad is Sat 21 Nov 2026, from early morning into the night.
Are there any marriage muhurats in late December 2026 or early January 2027?
No. The last date in Drik's lists is Sat 12 Dec 2026. From 13 to 15 December no suitable nakshatra is available, and from Dhanu Sankranti on 16 December 2026 to 14 January 2027 the Sun is in Dhanu, the month known as Kharmas in North India and Dhanurmasam in the South, which Drik marks as a prohibited solar month for weddings. Muhurats return on Fri 15 Jan 2027.
How many vivah muhurat dates are there from November 2026 to March 2027?
Drik Panchang lists 40 dates: 4 in November, 7 in December, 9 in January, 13 in February and 7 in March (up to 14 March 2027). The New Delhi and Hyderabad lists have the same dates; only the sunrise-based start and end times differ slightly.
Is Shukra or Guru asta a problem for weddings this season?
Not in this window. Drik's 2026 list marks Shukra Tara Asta (Venus combust) from 12 to 28 October 2026, with the 'young Venus' days from 29 to 31 October, all before Chaturmas ends. Its lists show no Venus or Jupiter combustion block between November 2026 and March 2027.
Can we use these dates for a wedding in the USA, Canada or the UK?
Not directly. Muhurat lists are worked out for one city. Ask your local temple priest, or set your own city in a panchang such as Drik Panchang, for the list for your ceremony. You can convert an India time to your clock to see when the India window falls, which helps family watching online, but a converted time is not a muhurat for your city.
Why do Telugu and North Indian families sometimes get different wedding dates?
Traditions weigh things differently. Telugu families usually have the muhurtham, including the exact lagna, fixed by their family purohit from a Telugu panchangam, and regional calendars can include or leave out days that Drik's general method treats differently. Use the dates here as a starting shortlist and let your own priest or panchang decide.
Editor's note
Editor's note (23 October 2026): every date and time on this page is copied from Drik Panchang's marriage muhurat pages for New Delhi and Hyderabad (2026 and 2027), which we read once on 23 October 2026 and keep on file. We have not calculated or added any muhurat of our own. Panchang publishers revise their lists from time to time, and regional traditions differ, so confirm your date with your own priest or family panchang before you book.
