So no crackers on Govardhan Puja or Bhai Dooj. The Diwali night window, 8 PM to 10 PM, starts after the Lakshmi Puja muhurat ends at 7:50 PM, so finish the puja first. Our Delhi cracker guidelines page has the history of the restrictions.

  • Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple (Birla Mandir), Mandir Marg: dedicated to Lakshmi and Narayan, and one of the city's busiest temples on Diwali.
  • Jhandewalan Devi Temple: a major Devi temple near Karol Bagh.
  • Kalkaji Temple: the ancient Kali temple in south Delhi, crowded on the Amavasya night.
  • Hanuman Mandir, Connaught Place: the old Hanuman temple at the heart of New Delhi.

  • Air quality: Delhi's air usually worsens in November. Check the AQI on CPCB's Sameer app before going out, and keep children, older relatives and anyone with asthma or heart conditions indoors on smoggy evenings.
  • Weather: early November is cool in the evenings, around 15–28 °C.
  • Safety: keep oil diyas away from curtains, use LED lights outdoors, and keep water and sand ready if you burst crackers.

After Diwali

  • Govardhan Puja and Annakut: Tuesday, 10 November.
  • Bhai Dooj: Wednesday, 11 November. See Bhai Dooj 2026.
  • Chhath Puja: Friday, 13 to Monday, 16 November, with the Sandhya Arghya on Sunday, 15 November at Delhi's ghats and the Yamuna. See Chhath Puja 2026.
