Countries where we found no 2026 event

We could not verify a 2026 Bathukamma event or an active Telangana association in South Korea, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, nor a 2026 date in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Saudi Arabia. That does not mean nobody celebrates there: many families gather privately or through WhatsApp groups. Ask at the nearest Hindu temple or Indian community association, or celebrate at home.

How to celebrate Bathukamma abroad

  • Flowers: use flowers legally sold where you live, such as marigolds and chrysanthemums, in place of tangedu and gunuka. Never pick protected wildflowers or import plant material without checking customs rules.
  • Building the Bathukamma: arrange the flowers in rings on a plate, with a small turmeric Gauramma on top. Our step-by-step Bathukamma guide shows how.
  • Songs and the circle: women and girls gather around the Bathukammas, clap in rhythm and sing; learn songs from elders or recordings shared by your association.
  • Immersion: do not place flowers, dyes or food in a public lake or river unless the local authority allows it. Use a tub of water at home, a venue's designated arrangement, or compost the flowers.
  • Saddula food: share sattu and maleeda after the last day; see Saddula Bathukamma saddulu recipes.
  • Children: let them help choose and arrange flowers, and explain that the festival honours the Goddess as Gauri, nature and the season's flowers.

Frequently asked questions

When is Bathukamma 2026?

In Telangana, Bathukamma runs from Engili Pula on Saturday 10 October to Saddula Bathukamma on Sunday 18 October 2026. Abroad, Telugu associations usually hold their celebrations on the weekends of 10-11 and 17-18 October, and some later in October.

Are there Bathukamma events outside India in 2026?

Yes. We verified 2026 events in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, Oman, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, listed on this page with their organisers' pages.

How do I find a Bathukamma celebration near me abroad?

Start with your country's Telangana or Telugu association; most announce Bathukamma on their website or social media a few weeks before. Local Hindu temples and Indian community centres are the next place to ask.

Can I celebrate Bathukamma at home abroad?

Yes. Arrange seasonal flowers available locally in rings on a plate, place a turmeric Gauramma on top, sing Bathukamma songs with family and friends, and dispose of the flowers responsibly instead of placing them in a public waterway.

Which flowers can I use for Bathukamma abroad?

Use flowers legally sold where you live, such as marigolds, chrysanthemums and other seasonal blooms. Do not pick protected wildflowers, and do not import seeds or plant material without checking customs rules.
