Vladivostok is Russia's main Pacific port, with about 600,000 people, at the eastern end of the Trans-Siberian Railway. It has one of the longest-standing Indian links in the Russian Far East: India opened its Consulate General here on 9 September 1992, soon after the formerly closed city opened to foreigners. Its Indian community is small, made up of students, professionals in shipping and trade, and families.
This guide gives the local dates and puja times, the Indian Consulate, the Hare Krishna temple and vegetarian café, and practical tips for a Diwali weekend on the Pacific coast.
Editor's note (6 November 2026): puja times are HinduTone's own calculation for Vladivostok, using the same method as our Diwali 2026 dates in every country table. Consulate details are from the Consulate General of India's own website, and temple and café details from the official ISKCON centres directory. We did not find a publicly announced Diwali 2026 event in Vladivostok; check with the Consulate and the temple for any community programme.
Diwali 2026 dates in Vladivostok
| Day | Festival | Date in Vladivostok |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dhanteras | Friday, 6 November |
| 2 | Naraka Chaturdashi (oil bath before sunrise) | Sunday, 8 November, morning |
| 3 | Diwali, Lakshmi Puja | Sunday, 8 November, evening |
| 4 | Govardhan Puja, Annakut | Tuesday, 10 November |
| 5 | Bhai Dooj | Wednesday, 11 November |
Amavasya begins at 3:57 PM on Sunday, 8 November in Vladivostok and ends at 5:01 PM on Monday, 9 November. Because the new moon starts on Sunday afternoon, both the pre-dawn bath of Naraka Chaturdashi and the evening Lakshmi Puja fall on Sunday.
Govardhan Puja is on Tuesday, 10 November in Vladivostok, not Monday as in Moscow. Govardhan Puja is kept on the day Pratipada is running at sunrise, and at sunrise on Monday in Vladivostok the Amavasya is still running. Bhai Dooj follows on Wednesday, 11 November.
Lakshmi Puja muhurat in Vladivostok
| Detail | Vladivostok time (UTC+10) |
|---|---|
| Diwali, Lakshmi Puja | Sunday, 8 November 2026 |
| Lakshmi Puja muhurat | 6:15 PM – 8:02 PM |
| Sunset | about 5:56 PM |
| Pradosh Kaal | 5:56 PM – 8:44 PM |
| Amavasya | 3:57 PM, 8 November – 5:01 PM, 9 November |
Lakshmi Puja is performed in Pradosh Kaal, the period after sunset, ideally while the fixed Vrishabha (Taurus) lagna is rising. In Vladivostok that window is 6:15 PM to 8:02 PM.
Do not convert another city's time. Vladivostok is seven hours ahead of Moscow and four and a half hours ahead of India. Moscow's muhurat (4:45 PM – 6:16 PM Moscow time) would read 11:45 PM – 1:16 AM in Vladivostok, and New Delhi's (5:54 PM – 7:50 PM IST) would read 10:24 PM – 12:20 AM. Neither matches the local window, because the muhurat depends on local sunset and the rising sign at your own location.
Your puja in Vladivostok will be over long before India's begins: 6:15 PM in Vladivostok is 1:45 PM in India. You can finish your own puja and dinner, and later join your family's puja in India by video call at 10:24 PM your time.
Lakshmi-Ganesh puja at home
For most Indian families and students in Vladivostok, Diwali will be celebrated at home or in a hostel room with friends. A simple order:
- Clean the room and the puja corner during the day, and draw a small rangoli or kolam at the door.
- Set up Lakshmi and Ganesha on a clean red cloth with a kalash, flowers, sweets, fruit, coins and diyas.
- Begin inside the muhurat (6:15 PM – 8:02 PM). Light the diyas, worship Ganesha first (Om Gan Ganapataye Namah), then Lakshmi (Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah), and finish with the aarti Om Jai Lakshmi Mata.
- Share prasad with family and friends.
Student hostels and apartment blocks usually forbid open flames. Use LED diyas there, or keep oil diyas on a metal tray, away from curtains, and never leave them burning unattended. For the meaning of each day, see the five days of Diwali explained, and for the full puja vidhi, our main Diwali 2026 guide.
Consulate General of India, Vladivostok
- Address (Consulate website): 46 Verkhneportovaya Street, 4th floor, Vladivostok.
- Founded: 9 September 1992.
- Website: cgivladi.gov.in
The Consulate is the official contact for Indian nationals in the Russian Far East. In past years Indian missions abroad have marked Diwali with community gatherings; watch the Consulate's website and social media for any 2026 announcement before planning around one.
Hare Krishna temple and Ganga vegetarian café
- ISKCON Vladivostok: the ISKCON centres directory lists the temple at ulitsa Kalinina 170, with the website nimai.ru. The listing gives no programme times, so check the website before visiting, and ask whether the temple will mark Diwali on Sunday and Govardhan Puja with an Annakut on Tuesday, 10 November.
- Ganga café: a vegetarian café listed in the same directory at Okeansky Prospekt 69, open Monday to Friday 9 AM – 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday 10 AM – 8 PM (website gangacafe.ru). It is one of the easiest places in the city to find a vegetarian meal; check the hours for the Diwali weekend before going.
We did not find a publicly announced Diwali 2026 event in Vladivostok as of 6 November 2026. If you hear of one, check the organiser and venue before travelling.
Indian students and community
Indian students in Vladivostok study at the city's universities, including Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island. University Indian student groups are the most likely organisers of a Diwali get-together; ask in your hostel, your faculty's international office or your student group.
Food and shopping
Apart from the Ganga café, we could not verify a dedicated Indian restaurant in Vladivostok. To check for new places, search for "индийская кухня" (Indian cuisine) on 2GIS or Yandex Maps, which show current opening hours.
Basmati rice, lentils and common spices are sold in large supermarkets. Specialist items such as ghee, besan, paneer, puja supplies and Indian sweets are easier to order through online marketplaces that deliver in Russia; order a few days ahead, as deliveries to the Far East can take longer. For recipes, see our Diwali sweets recipes.
Places to visit over the Diwali weekend
- Golden Horn Bay and the Golden Bridge: the city's harbour and its landmark cable-stayed bridge, best seen from the Eagle's Nest viewpoint.
- Russky Bridge and Russky Island: one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world, leading to the Far Eastern Federal University campus.
- Vladivostok railway station: the eastern end of the Trans-Siberian Railway, with a marker for the final kilometre post.
- Sports Embankment: the seafront promenade on Amur Bay, a favourite place for an evening walk.
Practical tips
- Weather: early November in Vladivostok is cool to cold, often near freezing at night, with sea winds. Dress warmly for any evening outing.
- Time difference: Vladivostok is on UTC+10 all year, seven hours ahead of Moscow and four and a half hours ahead of India.
- Payments: Visa and Mastercard cards issued outside Russia do not work in Russia. Carry cash in roubles or arrange another payment method before you travel.
- Fireworks: follow local rules and hostel or building regulations. Most families and students keep Diwali to diyas and LED lights indoors.
