Dussehra 2026 Date & Vijayadashami Muhurat — Aparahna Time City-Wise

Dussehra (Vijayadashami) 2026 falls on Tuesday, 20 October — and the most-asked question is the muhurat. This HinduTone guide gives the Dussehra 2026 date and Vijayadashami muhurat, including the auspicious Aparahna (afternoon) and Vijaya muhurat windows.

Quick answer: Dussehra 2026 is on Tuesday, 20 October. The Aparahna (afternoon) kaal and the Vijaya muhurat are traditionally the most auspicious for Vijayadashami rituals. Confirm exact city timings against a reliable panchang.

Dussehra 2026 — Key Timings

• Festival: Vijayadashami — Tuesday, 20 October 2026
• Aparahna kaal: the afternoon window, considered auspicious for Dussehra puja and Shami/Ayudha worship
• Vijaya muhurat: a short, especially victorious window in the afternoon — ideal for new beginnings
• Navratri: 11–20 October 2026; Maha Navami around 19 October

Why the Aparahna & Vijaya Muhurat?

Vijayadashami means "the victorious tenth day." The Aparahna period — and within it the Vijaya muhurat — is traditionally regarded as the most auspicious time to begin ventures, perform Shami and Ayudha puja, and initiate learning, because victory (vijaya) is invoked at this time.

City-Wise & NRI Note

The muhurat shifts with location and is finalised close to the date. For India, follow your city’s panchang; NRIs should map the India-anchored timing to their time zone or follow their temple’s scheduled program.
