About the role
HinduTone is offering a Business Development Intern position for students and recent graduates who want to see how partnerships are built at a digital publication. This is a paid internship with a stipend, on a hybrid basis in Hyderabad.
Our publication covers Hindu festivals, temples, panchang, careers and community news in English, Hindi and Telugu. Behind that content sits a business development effort that connects us with temple trusts, community organisations and brands. Much of that work starts with research: understanding who an organisation is, what it does, whom to contact and why a partnership might make sense.
As an intern, you will support this research under supervision. You will build prospect lists, study temples and community groups, look into possible sponsors for festival content and draft outreach messages for a mentor to review. You will not be expected to close deals. You will be expected to be careful, curious and willing to learn. The internship suits someone who likes research and writing, is interested in sales or marketing as a career, and wants practical experience to talk about in future interviews.
What you will do
- Research temples, temple trusts, cultural associations and NRI community organisations, and summarise what each does and who leads it.
- Study brands and businesses that serve Indian families, and note which might be interested in reaching HinduTone readers.
- Build and clean prospect lists in a shared spreadsheet, checking that details are accurate and up to date.
- Research possible sponsors for upcoming festival content, and note the timing that would suit each one.
- Draft outreach emails and messages for your mentor to review, edit and approve before anything is sent.
- Help keep the CRM tidy by removing duplicates, filling in missing details and flagging outdated records.
- Prepare short research notes before meetings so the team walks in well informed.
- Track festival and event dates relevant to partnership planning.
- Sit in on internal reviews and some partner calls to observe how conversations are handled.
- Share a brief weekly summary of what you worked on and what you learned.
Skills we are looking for
Must have
- Good written English and the ability to summarise information clearly.
- Comfort with online research and basic spreadsheet work.
- Patience and accuracy when handling lists and records.
- A respectful attitude towards religious and cultural institutions.
- Reliability in meeting agreed deadlines and responding to feedback.
Good to have
- Reading or speaking ability in Hindi or Telugu.
- Interest in marketing, sales, media or entrepreneurship.
- Experience with college fests, sponsorship drives, clubs or volunteering.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn and with professional email etiquette.
- Knowledge of Indian festivals and temple traditions.
Who should apply
This internship is open to students and recent graduates. Final-year students and graduates in business administration, commerce, marketing, journalism, mass communication, engineering, humanities or a related field are welcome. Equivalent practical skills from projects, volunteering or college activities also count.
You should be able to work from Hyderabad on a hybrid basis, joining the office for orientation, reviews and team days, and working from home on other days. If you are still studying, please make sure the internship fits around your academic schedule.
We are not looking for prior sales experience. We are looking for people who take care with details, write clearly and enjoy finding things out. If you have ever organised a college fest, collected sponsors for a club event or researched a topic deeply for a project, those experiences are relevant and worth mentioning. Curiosity about how temples, cultural groups and community organisations work will also help you settle into the research quickly.
What you will learn
This internship is built around supervised learning. A mentor will explain each task, review your drafts and research, and help you understand why some approaches work better than others.
You will learn how business development research is done properly, how prospect lists are built and maintained, and how a CRM supports a sales team. You will see how outreach messages are written and adjusted for different audiences, from a temple committee to a brand manager. You will also gain an understanding of how a multilingual digital publication plans content around the festival calendar and how partnerships fit into that plan.
By the end, you should have concrete work to describe in interviews, such as a research file you built or outreach drafts you improved after feedback. Strong interns may be considered for an open position when one is available, though this depends on business needs and is not promised.
Preparing your application
- A short resume listing your course, year of study or graduation, and any projects, clubs or volunteering that involved research or communication.
- A sample research note, around 150 words, on one temple, cultural association or community organisation, covering what it does and why it might work with HinduTone.
- A draft introduction message of under 100 words that you would send to a possible festival sponsor.
- Mention the languages you can read and write.
- Note the days and hours you are available, so we can plan your schedule around your studies.
