About the role
Brands that want to reach Hindu families, NRI households and community-minded readers need a publisher they can trust, and HinduTone needs someone who can explain what we offer and bring in advertisers who fit our readers. We are hiring a Digital Ad Sales Executive to sell display advertising, sponsored content and festival-season campaigns on hindutone.com.
This is a full-time, hybrid role in Hyderabad, Telangana, and it is a direct sales position. You will find prospects among brands, NRI service providers and community businesses, present our advertising options, prepare proposals, close campaigns and make sure each one is delivered and reported on properly. It differs from our partnerships work, which focuses on content collaborations. Here the focus is on advertising revenue, pipeline and campaign delivery.
We prefer candidates with digital advertising, media or B2B sales experience. Confident freshers who have completed sales internships may also apply. The role suits someone who enjoys outreach, follows up consistently and is comfortable being open about what an advertiser can and cannot expect from a cultural publication.
What you will do
- Identify and research prospects such as consumer brands, travel and remittance services, education and immigration consultants, jewellers, event organisers and community businesses.
- Reach out through email, calls, LinkedIn and meetings, and book discovery conversations with decision makers.
- Present HinduTone's advertising options, including display placements, sponsored articles and festival-season campaigns.
- Prepare and maintain a media kit with audience information, formats, sample placements and policies.
- Write clear proposals and quotations that match an advertiser's goal with the right package and timing.
- Plan festival-season sales calendars, so that campaigns for Diwali, Ugadi, Navaratri and other occasions are pitched well in advance.
- Negotiate terms politely, confirm what is agreed in writing and hand over campaign details to the delivery team.
- Record every lead, call, proposal and follow-up in a CRM, and keep the pipeline up to date.
- Coordinate with editors and the technology team on creative, labelling of sponsored content and go-live dates.
- Prepare campaign reports with impressions, clicks and observations, and discuss renewals with the advertiser.
- Decline advertisers whose products or claims do not suit a devotional audience.
Skills we are looking for
Must have
- Good spoken and written English, with confident, polite communication.
- Understanding of the basics of digital advertising, such as impressions, clicks, click-through rate and placements.
- Willingness to prospect, follow up and handle rejection professionally.
- Ability to prepare a simple proposal, quotation or presentation.
- Organised record keeping in a spreadsheet or CRM.
- Honesty about what a campaign can deliver.
Good to have
- Prior experience in digital advertising, media sales, agency sales or B2B sales.
- Familiarity with ad servers, ad networks or analytics dashboards.
- Hindi or Telugu for conversations with regional businesses.
- Knowledge of the NRI services market in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and the Gulf.
- Experience selling seasonal or event-linked campaigns.
Who should apply
Candidates with experience in digital advertising, media or B2B sales are preferred. A degree in business, marketing, mass communication or any other field is welcome, as is equivalent practical selling skill.
Confident freshers with sales internships or strong campus sales experience may apply. Tell us about the first sale you made, the number of calls you handled or the pitch you built, and what you learned from it.
You should be able to work from Hyderabad on a hybrid basis. Office days are for team planning, pitch practice and meetings, and some days are for working from home. Because advertisers are in different time zones, you should be willing to arrange some calls at agreed times.
A good candidate for this role is not a hard closer. Our readers trust HinduTone, and advertisers pay for that trust, so we want a seller who will recommend the right package, even when it is a smaller one, and who will be frank when a request does not suit us. Persistence with courtesy is the habit that will matter most.
How you will grow
This role lets you build the advertising side of a respected multilingual publication. You will learn to read a client's goal, shape a package around it and report back honestly. As the pipeline grows, you will refine your pitch based on which advertisers respond and which do not.
Working with editors will teach you how to keep sponsored material clearly labelled and useful. Working with the technology team will show how placements are delivered and measured. Over time you can help create the media kit, pricing logic and reporting templates for the team. The skills of consultative selling, proposal writing and campaign reporting apply to many digital media and marketing careers.
You will also see how a seasonal business behaves: preparation before a festival, intense delivery during it and review afterwards. Learning to plan around that rhythm will make you a better forecaster and a calmer salesperson.
Preparing your application
- A resume that lists your sales experience, the products or services sold and the results in simple terms.
- A one-page sample pitch or proposal for a brand that might advertise on a Hindu festival website.
- A list of ten businesses you would approach first, with a line on why each suits our readers.
- A brief description of how you follow up with a prospect who has not replied.
- If you are a fresher, describe your sales internship or campus project and what you personally did.
- Details of the languages you speak and any CRM or analytics tools you have used.
