• Eastern and Southeast Europe: Across much of Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Finland and the Baltics, including Vienna, Warsaw, Budapest, Belgrade, Athens, Helsinki, Moscow and Istanbul, the Ashtami tithi is still running at sunrise on Monday 19 October, so some panchangs may list Durga Ashtami that day. The Vijay Muhurat is the 11th of the 15 muhurtas of daylight. Aparahna is the wider afternoon window used for Aparajita Puja, Shami Puja and Seema Avalanghan. Both depend on local sunrise and sunset, so Paris and Warsaw, which share a clock, have very different windows.

• Same clock, different sky: Madrid and Warsaw are both on CEST, but Madrid's Vijay Muhurat starts 105 minutes later, because Madrid lies so much farther west.
