About the role
HinduTone publishes festival explainers, temple pages, daily panchang and community stories in English, Hindi and Telugu. Keeping that much content accurate, readable and consistent across three languages is a real engineering problem, and generative AI can help with it when it is built carefully. We are hiring a Generative AI Engineer to design and ship the features that make this possible on the hindutone.com website.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Hyderabad. You will work on prompts, model integrations, translation workflows and image pipelines, and you will be equally responsible for the checks that stop a wrong date, a misattributed story or a clumsy translation from reaching readers. Accuracy matters more to us than novelty, because our readers rely on festival dates and temple details to plan real visits and rituals.
The role suits an engineer who has already shipped at least one LLM or generative AI feature to real users, who enjoys measuring quality instead of guessing at it, and who is comfortable explaining trade-offs to editors who are not engineers.
What you will do
- Design, version and test prompts for drafting, summarising, rewriting and classifying content across our festival, temple, panchang, careers and community sections.
- Integrate LLM APIs into internal tools and the website, with sensible handling of timeouts, retries and provider errors.
- Build structured output flows so that models return clean, schema-checked data (for example, event fields or FAQ pairs) instead of free text that needs manual cleaning.
- Improve multilingual generation and translation between English, Hindi and Telugu, working with native-speaking editors to spot tone, script and terminology problems.
- Set up image generation pipelines for illustrations and social cards, with clear rules about what may and may not be generated for religious subjects.
- Create evaluation sets and scoring methods so that every prompt or model change is compared against a baseline before release.
- Track and control cost and latency per feature, choosing smaller models, caching or batching where they give the same quality.
- Design human review steps so that editors approve generated material before it is published.
- Add accuracy safeguards such as source checks, date validation and flags for claims that need a citation.
- Write short internal notes on what each feature does, its known limits and how to roll it back.
- Review reader and editor feedback on generated material regularly and turn recurring problems into prompt or pipeline fixes.
Skills we are looking for
Must have
- Hands-on experience shipping an LLM or generative AI feature that real users relied on.
- Strong programming skills in Python, including working with HTTP APIs and JSON.
- Practical prompt design experience, including few-shot examples, system instructions and output formats.
- Experience getting structured, validated output from models (JSON schemas, function or tool calling, or similar).
- A habit of building evaluation sets and comparing results, rather than judging quality by a handful of examples.
- Awareness of cost, token usage and response time, and how to reduce them.
- Clear written communication with non-technical colleagues.
Good to have
- Reading or writing ability in Hindi or Telugu, or experience with Indic language NLP.
- Experience with image generation models and prompt control for consistent visual style.
- Familiarity with content management systems and editorial workflows.
- Exposure to safety and moderation techniques for user-facing generated text.
- Basic SQL and experience working with a content database.
- Some understanding of Hindu festivals, temples or panchang terms, or a willingness to learn them.
Who should apply
This role is for engineers with hands-on experience shipping LLM or generative AI features. A degree in computer science, IT, data science or a related field is welcome, but equivalent practical skills shown through shipped work count just as much. If you have mainly experimented with chat tools and notebooks but not put a feature in front of users, our fresher and internship listings may be a better fit for you right now. You should be able to work from our Hyderabad office on scheduled days and from home on others.
How you will grow
You will own generative AI features end to end, from the first prompt draft to evaluation, release and monitoring. Because the publication covers three languages and many content types, you will work on problems that rarely appear in single-language products, such as keeping festival terms consistent across scripts. You will also shape how our editorial team reviews generated material, which gives you a say in both the technology and the process around it. Over time you can expect to take on wider decisions about model choice, evaluation standards and quality targets for new sections.
Preparing your application
- List the generative AI features you have shipped, who used them, and one measurable result for each.
- Describe one evaluation set you built: how many examples, what you scored and what changed after you used it.
- Share a GitHub repository or a short write-up showing structured output handling and error recovery.
- If you have worked with Hindi, Telugu or another Indian language, include a before and after example of a translation or generation fix.
- Mention a time you reduced cost or latency for an LLM feature and how you confirmed quality did not drop.
- Note any image generation work, with a sentence on how you kept the output consistent and appropriate.
Before the interview
To check where you stand, read our AI engineer career overview, which covers the skills and project types interviewers commonly ask about. Brush up on structured outputs, prompt evaluation methods and the main levers for cost control, and be ready to walk through one feature you shipped in detail, including what went wrong.
How to apply
Share your updated resume with your relevant experience, key skills and links to work you can show, such as GitHub repositories, deployed projects or technical write-ups.
