Garba 2026 Canada: Navratri Garba and Dandiya Events Province by Province

Quick answer: For Navratri 2026 we found 44 upcoming Garba and Dandiya listings in 25 Canadian cities across Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. About half are in the Greater Toronto Area and Brampton. The busiest dates are Fri 9 to Sun 11 October and Fri 16 to Sat 17 October; groups in Niagara Falls, Surrey and Calgary hold nightly Garba through Navratri, and later events run to Sat 31 October in Calgary. Toronto, the GTA and Brampton (summary)

About half of the Canadian listings we found are in the Greater Toronto Area. Outside Brampton we found 16 upcoming listings in Toronto (North York and Etobicoke), Mississauga, Markham, Oakville, Milton, Burlington, Newmarket, Ajax, Whitby and Pickering, including nightly Mataji Garba at Sanatan Mandir Cultural Centre in Markham from 11 to 19 October and the Navrang festival at Toronto's Enercare Centre on 24 and 25 October. Brampton has seven more upcoming nights at the Brampton Soccer Centre, Pearson Convention Centre and Dreams Convention Centre. Barrie

Ottawa

The only Ottawa listing we found is a concert-style Garba after Navratri. Ottawa temples and community associations may hold their own Navratri Garba; see the 'Garba near you' section below.

Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Brant

Kitchener has three separate listings on Saturday 17 October, so check the venue address on your ticket. Cambridge's Radha Krishna Mandir holds a Sharad Purnima Garba as a temple fundraiser on 24 October.

Niagara

Niagara Gujarati Samaj lists Sheri Garba every night from 11 to 20 October, with aarti and Garba each night.

London

The only London listing we found, Vibrant Navratri at BMO Centre London on 6 September, has already been held (see the table below). Check local temples and community associations for Navratri-week Garba.

Kingston

Durham Region: Ajax, Whitby and Pickering

Quebec: Montreal

In Quebec, the listing we found is a Garba Raas night in Saint-Laurent after Navratri. Montreal's temples and Gujarati associations may hold Navratri-week Garba of their own.

British Columbia: Surrey and Port Coquitlam

In Metro Vancouver, the Navratri Festival Society lists nightly Garba in Surrey from 11 to 20 October; its listing is from a community events site, but the organiser's own site confirms the venue and October nights. A Garba concert follows in Cloverdale on 23 October and a Dandiya night in Port Coquitlam on 25 October.

Alberta: Calgary, Edmonton and Sherwood Park

Gujarati Mandal of Calgary lists two programmes: a 9-day Navratri celebration at the New Indo-Canadian Centre from 11 to 19 October, and a larger celebration at the BMO Centre on 30 and 31 October in its 50th Golden Jubilee year. Visit Calgary's description mentions four nights for the BMO Centre event, but only 30 and 31 October are listed, so check with the organiser for the full schedule. In Edmonton, Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada lists Navratri nights at the Edmonton Convention Centre, with 23 and 24 October still to come. The Sherwood Park listing (18 September) has already been held.

Saskatchewan: Saskatoon

Nova Scotia: Dartmouth (Halifax)

Indian Festivals Club of Nova Scotia held a waterfront Garba at Alderney Landing on 6 September and Dandiya and Garba nights at Zatzman Sportsplex from 2 to 4 October. We found no further Nova Scotia listing for October; check the club's pages for any later events.

Cities with no listing found: Winnipeg, Sudbury, Scarborough and more

When we checked on 7 October 2026 we found no 2026 Garba listing in Winnipeg, Sudbury or Scarborough, and none in several other cities with Hindu communities. That does not mean there is no Garba. Temples, Gujarati Samaj and mandal groups, and Indian community associations usually announce Navratri Garba on their own websites, newsletters and social pages, sometimes only a week ahead. Ask at your local mandir after the weekend aarti, check university Hindu and Gujarati student association pages, and look at the nearest city above. Scarborough residents can also look at the Markham and Durham listings.

If there is no public Garba near you, a small Garba at home or in a community room is entirely in keeping with tradition: a lamp, an image of Mataji, a short aarti and a few circles with family and friends. Navratri 2026 dates for Garba in Canada

Sharad Navratri 2026 runs from Sunday 11 October to Monday 19 October (Drik Panchang, India dates), with Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami both on Monday 19 October and Dussehra on Tuesday 20 October 2026. Canadian Garba nights are planned around hall bookings and weekends, so most fall on 9 to 11 and 16 to 17 October, while some begin on the Labour Day weekend in September and others continue to Sharad Purnima (24 October) or the end of the month. Why Garba is devotional

Garba is danced in a circle around a garbo, a clay pot with a lamp inside, or an image of the Goddess, honoured as Amba or Mataji. As traditionally understood, the lamp stands for the divine light within every life, and the circle of dancers honours the Goddess at the centre. That is why Garba in Canada, whether in a Calgary community centre or a Niagara park, usually begins with an aarti to Mataji and is kept alcohol-free. First-timer tips for Garba in Canada

• Dress. Chaniya choli, lehenga, kediyu or kurta are traditional; any modest festive outfit is welcome. See our Garba dress guide.
• Canadian October. Nights can be cold, and outdoor or fairground venues colder still. Bring a warm coat and something to carry it in.
• Etiquette. Bow to Mataji, stand for the aarti, never cross the centre of the circle, and keep the evening alcohol-free.
