About the role
Every year, lakhs of Hindi readers search for the date of a festival, the story behind a vrat, the meaning of a mantra or today's rashifal. They want answers that are correct, warm and easy to read. HinduTone publishes this material on hindi.hindutone.com, and we are hiring a Hindi Devotional Content Writer to help us do it better.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Hyderabad, Telangana. You will write and edit Hindi articles on festivals, vrat kathas, temples, mantras, panchang explainers and daily rashifal pages, working closely with the English and Telugu teams so that all three languages stay consistent.
We are hiring because the Hindi section keeps growing and every page needs a careful writer who respects the tradition and the reader. The role suits someone with excellent written Hindi, a good ear for simple and natural language, and the discipline to check every date and fact before it is published. Content writing, journalism or editing experience is preferred, and freshers with strong Hindi writing samples may also apply.
What you will do
- Write original Hindi articles on festivals, vrat kathas, temples, mantras and seasonal observances from editorial briefs.
- Prepare panchang explainers that describe tithi, nakshatra, muhurat and other terms in plain Hindi for general readers.
- Write and update daily rashifal pages in a consistent, balanced tone.
- Check festival dates, timings and names against reliable panchang and official sources before publishing, and note the source in your working file.
- Edit drafts from other writers and translators for grammar, spelling, clarity and a natural Hindi flow.
- Follow the HinduTone style sheet for Sanskrit terms, deity names, transliteration and the use of Devanagari numerals and dates.
- Apply SEO briefs, including headings, titles, descriptions and internal links, without making the writing feel stuffed or mechanical.
- Refresh older Hindi pages every season so that dates and details stay current.
- Coordinate with the English team when an English article needs a Hindi version or an adaptation.
- Respond to editor comments, keep revision notes and meet agreed publishing deadlines.
Skills we are looking for
Must have
- Excellent written Hindi with strong grammar, spelling and vocabulary.
- Working knowledge of Hindu festivals, vrat traditions, mantras and the basic terms of the panchang.
- The habit of verifying dates and facts against reliable sources, and of saying so when a source is unclear.
- Respect for traditions and for readers of every background and belief, with a calm and neutral tone.
- Ability to type quickly in Hindi using Unicode and to work in shared documents.
- Willingness to take edits and to meet deadlines.
Good to have
- Prior experience in content writing, journalism, editing or proofreading.
- Basic understanding of SEO, such as search intent, headings and meta descriptions.
- Working English, which helps when you read English briefs and sources.
- Familiarity with a content management system such as WordPress.
- Reading knowledge of Sanskrit shlokas.
Who should apply
If you have written or edited Hindi content for a newspaper, magazine, website or publisher, we would like to see your work. Graduates in Hindi, journalism, mass communication, arts or any other field are welcome, as are people with equivalent practical writing skills.
Freshers can apply if their Hindi writing samples are strong. A college magazine piece, a blog, an essay or a short article on a festival will tell us more than a certificate.
You should be able to work from Hyderabad on a hybrid basis, with some days at the office for editorial discussions and some days from home. We are looking for a writer who is patient with detail and treats each page as something a family may read before a puja.
We do not expect you to know every tradition. We do expect you to ask, to read, to confirm and to correct yourself politely when an editor points out a mistake. That attitude matters more to us than a long list of qualifications.
How you will grow
This role gives you ownership of a growing section of the publication. You will begin with supervised articles and edits, and over time you will take responsibility for whole content areas such as a season of vrat and festival pages, or the daily rashifal series.
Working with editors will sharpen your editing and fact-checking. Working beside the SEO and translation teams will show you how search, structure and language choices affect how many readers find a page. You will also build a deeper knowledge of the Hindu calendar, which is valuable for any career in culture, media or publishing.
Your best work will be read on a public website by a Hindi audience in India and abroad, and that makes a very useful portfolio.
We also expect you to grow in judgement. You will learn when a story needs a softer tone, when a claim should be left out because no reliable source supports it, and how to explain a custom without suggesting that readers who follow it differently are wrong.
Preparing your application
- A resume that lists your writing, editing or journalism experience, with links where the work is public.
- Three to five Hindi writing samples, ideally on festivals, religion, culture or explanatory topics.
- One short original piece of about 300 words on an upcoming festival, written for general readers.
- A note on how you check dates and facts when you write about festivals and the panchang.
- Mention any other languages you read or write, especially English or Telugu.
- If you are a fresher, include college or personal writing and say which piece you are proudest of.
