About the role

HinduTone is looking for an Azure Cloud Engineer with hands-on Microsoft Azure administration or engineering experience. The position is full-time and hybrid, working with our technology team in Hyderabad and from home on agreed days.

HinduTone publishes in English, Hindi and Telugu, and its website brings together temple, festival, panchang, careers and community sections. As the publication grows, we want an engineer who can design, run and secure Azure workloads with care and leave behind systems that others can understand and maintain.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will be expected to plan changes, build them as code, put sensible monitoring and guardrails in place and explain your choices to colleagues who are less familiar with Azure. It suits someone who has already administered or built on Azure in a working environment and now wants broader responsibility across compute, networking, identity, automation and governance.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain Azure Virtual Machines and Storage accounts, including sizing, disk choices, lifecycle rules and access tiers.
  • Manage identities and access with Microsoft Entra ID, including role assignments, groups, managed identities and conditional access in line with team policy.
  • Design and look after virtual networks, subnets, network security groups, peering and private endpoints so that services talk to each other safely.
  • Set up Azure Monitor, Log Analytics workspaces and alert rules that surface real problems without flooding the team with noise.
  • Develop and support Azure Functions for event-driven and scheduled jobs that help the content and publishing workflow.
  • Operate Azure Kubernetes Service clusters, covering node pools, upgrades, scaling and workload troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain pipelines in Azure DevOps for infrastructure and application deployments, with approvals where they are needed.
  • Write infrastructure as code in Terraform or Bicep, review pull requests from teammates and keep modules tidy and reusable.
  • Apply security and governance controls through Azure Policy, resource locks, tagging standards and Microsoft Defender for Cloud recommendations.
  • Track and reduce spend with budgets, cost analysis and right-sizing, and share findings with the team.
  • Prepare the platform for festival seasons, when traffic to panchang and festival pages climbs sharply.
  • Mentor junior engineers and interns on Azure fundamentals and good working practice.

Skills we are looking for

Must have

  • Hands-on experience administering or engineering solutions on Microsoft Azure in a professional setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure compute, storage and networking, including VNets and NSGs.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Azure role-based access control.
  • Infrastructure as code using Terraform or Bicep.
  • Experience setting up monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
  • Scripting with PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash or Python.
  • The ability to write clear design notes and runbooks.

Good to have

  • Experience running production workloads on AKS.
  • Building and supporting Azure Functions.
  • CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305 or AZ-400.
  • Exposure to Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud and Key Vault at scale.
  • Familiarity with web workloads, caching and content delivery.

Who should apply

This role is meant for engineers who already have hands-on Azure administration or engineering experience. A degree in computer science, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical skills, is expected. What matters most is that you have run Azure resources that other people relied on and can talk through decisions you have made.

It is not an entry-level position. Freshers interested in Azure should look at our fresher and internship roles instead. You should be comfortable working from Hyderabad on office days and collaborating smoothly when the team is split between home and office.

Scope and ownership

You will own significant parts of the Azure estate, from network design to identity and monitoring, and you will be the person others turn to when a change needs to be planned carefully. You will have room to propose improvements, such as consolidating modules, tightening policies or simplifying pipelines, and to see them through once agreed.

Your work will be visible across the team, and the quality of your design notes, reviews and mentoring will shape how the whole team works on Azure. This is a role for someone who wants their judgement to count.

You will also work closely with the people who publish and edit content, which means translating technical constraints into plain explanations and understanding why a slow page during a major festival matters to readers. Over time you can expect to lead design discussions for new workloads, set standards for how Azure resources are named, tagged and secured, and decide with the team which improvements deserve attention first. The work spans planning, building and operating, so you will see the full life of what you create rather than handing it off after delivery.

Preparing your application

  • Summarise the Azure environments you have worked on, the services involved and your specific responsibilities.
  • Describe one project in detail, such as a network redesign, an AKS rollout or a governance clean-up, including the problem and the result.
  • Share a GitHub link or sample of Terraform or Bicep code, with anything confidential removed.
  • List your Microsoft certifications with the year achieved.
  • Mention an incident you helped resolve and what you changed afterwards to prevent it recurring.
  • Note any experience mentoring or reviewing the work of others.

Before the interview

Although written for early-career readers, our article on building a career in Azure is a useful refresher on the fundamentals interviewers still probe. Be ready to discuss VNet and NSG design, Entra ID and RBAC trade-offs, Terraform or Bicep state handling, AKS upgrades and how you would enforce tagging with Azure Policy.

How to apply

Share your updated resume with your relevant experience, key skills and links to work you can show, such as GitHub repositories, deployed projects or technical write-ups.
