About the role
Students and recent graduates interested in Microsoft Azure can apply for a paid internship (stipend) as an Azure Cloud Intern with HinduTone. The internship is hybrid and based in Hyderabad, combining days at our office with days working from home.
HinduTone is a publication on Hindu culture, festivals, temples and panchang, written in English, Hindi and Telugu, with careers and community sections alongside. The cloud setup behind the website needs good documentation, consistent policies and a clear picture of how its parts fit together. We are bringing in an intern to help with that work while learning Azure in a practical setting.
Everything you do will be supervised. You will start in lab subscriptions, work from clear instructions and get regular feedback from a mentor. This internship suits someone who likes learning by doing, enjoys turning a confusing setup into a neat diagram and wants an honest first look at how cloud work is done day to day.
What you will do
- Work through guided Azure labs in a practice subscription, covering resource groups, Virtual Machines, Storage and basic networking.
- Learn Microsoft Entra ID basics by creating test users and groups and understanding how sign-in and access are controlled.
- Run audits of Azure Policy compliance and resource tags, and draft a list of fixes for your mentor to review.
- Build simple Azure Functions, such as a timer-triggered job that writes a daily summary or checks a storage container.
- Draw and maintain architecture diagrams that show how services connect, and keep them in step with what is actually deployed.
- Write short explanatory notes to go with each diagram so a newcomer could understand the setup.
- Sit in on team discussions about changes and note the questions engineers ask before approving them.
- Share a brief summary of what you have built and learned at checkpoints agreed with your mentor.
- Compare the built-in Azure Policy definitions for tagging and allowed regions, and explain in a short note which ones suit the setup.
- Keep a running glossary of Azure terms you meet for the first time, written in your own words for future interns.
Skills we are looking for
Must have
- A basic idea of cloud computing concepts such as virtual machines, storage and regions.
- Beginner programming knowledge in Python, C#, JavaScript or PowerShell.
- Clear written English and an eye for neat, accurate documentation.
- Willingness to learn from feedback and to ask questions.
- Reliability in meeting the small deadlines your mentor sets.
Good to have
- Completed Microsoft Learn modules or progress towards AZ-900.
- Experience with a diagramming tool such as Visio or Lucidchart.
- Some command line familiarity on Windows or Linux.
- A GitHub account with coursework or small projects.
- Interest in security, identity or governance topics.
Who should apply
This internship is for final-year students and recent graduates. Learners from computer science, IT, electronics and related degrees will feel at home, and we are glad to hear from students in other streams who have put real effort into Azure labs.
You do not need previous work experience. You should be able to attend the Hyderabad office on agreed days and balance the internship with any remaining college work if you are still studying.
We are less interested in marks than in signs of genuine curiosity. A Microsoft Learn badge you earned on your own, a diagram you drew to explain a project, or a function you deployed and then broke and fixed again will tell us more than a list of course titles. If you enjoy understanding how things connect and writing it down clearly, this internship will suit you.
What you will learn
You will learn how identity, policy and tagging keep a cloud environment under control, and you will see why governance matters long before anything goes wrong. Writing your first Azure Functions will give you a feel for serverless development, and keeping diagrams accurate will train you to read an environment as a whole rather than one resource at a time.
You will also pick up workplace habits that matter in any technical role: writing clear notes, asking good questions and presenting your work plainly. Your mentor will review your progress and suggest what to study next. Strong interns may be considered for an open position at HinduTone if one exists at the end of the internship, but this depends on availability and is not promised.
Preparing your application
- Mention the Microsoft Learn paths or Azure labs you have completed and what you took away from them.
- Include an architecture diagram you have drawn for a college or personal project, even a simple one.
- Share a GitHub link with any code, such as a small function or script, if you have it.
- State your degree, current year or graduation year, and the days you can attend the office.
- Explain briefly what draws you to cloud computing and to Azure in particular.
- Note any certification you plan to attempt and your target month.
