About the role
HinduTone serves readers in India and in NRI communities abroad, which means our pages are read across many time zones and in very uneven bursts. We are hiring a Cloud and DevOps Engineer who can look at the whole picture: where things run, how they are defined in code, how they are released, how much they cost and how quickly they come back after a failure.
This is a combined role. On the cloud side you will work across AWS and Azure, describing infrastructure in code rather than clicking through consoles. On the DevOps side you will shape release pipelines, container platforms and observability. The two halves meet in decisions about reliability, security and spend, and we want one person who is comfortable making those trade-offs and explaining them clearly. The role suits engineers with experience across cloud infrastructure and DevOps automation who like designing systems as much as running them. It is a hybrid role based in Hyderabad, combining office days with work from home.
What you will do
- Design and manage infrastructure as code for AWS and Azure environments, with reviewed changes and clear module structure.
- Plan where each workload should live, weighing reliability, latency for readers abroad and running cost.
- Build and operate Kubernetes clusters or managed Kubernetes services, including namespaces, ingress, autoscaling and upgrades.
- Create CI/CD pipelines that build images, run checks, apply infrastructure changes and release services in stages.
- Set up observability across clouds: metrics, logs, traces and dashboards that show the health of the HinduTone website.
- Apply security basics everywhere: least-privilege identity and access, secret management, network rules and patching.
- Review cloud bills regularly, tag resources properly, remove waste and suggest cheaper designs that do not hurt readers.
- Design and rehearse disaster recovery, including cross-region or cross-cloud backups, restore drills and documented recovery targets.
- Write architecture notes and runbooks that explain why a setup exists, not just how to use it.
- Work with developers so that new features are built with deployment, scaling and monitoring in mind from the start.
- Lead calm, well-documented responses to infrastructure incidents and follow through on fixes.
Skills we are looking for
Must have
- Real experience building and running workloads on AWS, Azure or both, with willingness to work across the two.
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or similar, including state handling and safe reviews.
- Hands-on Kubernetes and container experience beyond tutorials.
- Strong CI/CD skills with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins or a comparable tool.
- Good understanding of cloud networking: VPCs or VNets, subnets, load balancers, DNS and TLS.
- Practical knowledge of cloud identity and access, secrets and audit logs.
- Experience with monitoring and logging stacks, and with using them during an incident.
Good to have
- Cloud certifications backed by project experience.
- Experience with cost tools and budgeting alerts on AWS or Azure.
- Knowledge of CDNs and edge caching for content-heavy websites.
- Scripting in Python or Go for automation that infrastructure tools cannot cover.
- Experience moving workloads between providers or between regions.
Who should apply
This position is for engineers who already have experience across cloud infrastructure and DevOps automation. A degree in computer science, IT or a related field is useful, though equivalent practical skills carry the same weight; we care most about what you have designed, built and kept running. You should be comfortable owning decisions that affect cost and uptime, and explaining them to people who are not engineers.
You will work from our Hyderabad office on the agreed days and from home on the others. If you are mainly a DevOps engineer without much cloud design work yet, our DevOps Engineer position may be a closer match.
How you will grow
You will have broad scope and real influence. The way HinduTone uses AWS and Azure, how its environments are defined and how it recovers from trouble will reflect your designs. You will be trusted to propose changes, test them and see them through, rather than only carrying out tickets.
The work also stretches across areas that are often split between separate teams elsewhere: architecture, security, cost and day-to-day operations. That gives you a chance to build depth in all of them and to show the business value of good infrastructure choices, for example by keeping festival-day performance strong while bringing the monthly bill down. Where it helps, you can also mentor junior engineers and interns.
Preparing your application
- Summarise two or three cloud environments you have designed or run, naming the provider and what you owned.
- Share an infrastructure as code sample, such as a module or repository, or describe one in detail if it is private.
- Describe a cost saving you delivered, with the approach you took and the trade-offs involved.
- Include a short note on a disaster recovery plan or restore drill you led or took part in.
- Mention your Kubernetes experience: cluster type, what ran on it and how you handled upgrades.
- Add a few lines on how you secure access and secrets across more than one cloud.
Before the interview
For a quick refresh on how employers frame DevOps skills, see our DevOps careers overview, and use the AWS and Azure pages to revisit core services on each platform. Be ready to discuss infrastructure as code workflows, Kubernetes networking, multi-cloud trade-offs and how you would recover the site after losing a region.
How to apply
Share your updated resume with your relevant experience, key skills and links to work you can show, such as GitHub repositories, deployed projects or technical write-ups.
