We have no Brazil-specific festival dates, so every festival in this guide carries the India date: abroad it may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple. What we can give you is the tithi at São Paulo sunrise for every day of the month, which shows where a Brazilian calendar is likely to differ.
November 2026 in Brazil at a glance
Brazil's Hindu community is small and spread out: Indian professionals and their families in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and other cities, alongside a much larger number of Brazilians who practise yoga, Vedanta and Krishna bhakti. For all of them November is the month of Diwali and of Karthika, the lamp month.
It is late spring in Brazil. São Paulo sees sunrise at 5:19 AM on 1 November and 5:09 AM on 30 November, and sunset moving from 6:21 PM to 6:40 PM. Brasília time is 8.5 hours behind India and Brazil no longer uses daylight saving time, so nothing changes on the clock. Because Brazil lies so far west of India, its sunrise tithi often runs ahead of India's on the calendar date, as the table shows.
November 2026 Hindu calendar for Brazil, day by day
Tithi and sunrise are for São Paulo (Brasília time), computed with HinduTone's panchang calculator, which has been validated against Drik Panchang. Festival names in the last column are on their India dates, since our data holds no Brazilian festival dates. Remember that the festival day is not always the day the tithi is at sunrise: Lakshmi Puja depends on the evening, Masik Shivaratri on midnight and Sankashti on moonrise. Abroad any of these may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple.

Where the São Paulo table differs from India
Comparing the São Paulo column with India's panchang shows the days to double-check. On 4 November the tithi at São Paulo sunrise is already Krishna Ekadashi, while India keeps Rama Ekadashi on Thursday 5 November. On 8 November, India's Diwali, São Paulo wakes to Krishna Amavasya, and on 9 November to Shukla Pratipada. On 20 November it is Shukla Ekadashi at São Paulo sunrise, while India marks Devutthana Ekadashi on Friday 20 November. These are the same shifts that move several festivals a day earlier in the USA and Canada, so if your temple publishes a Brazil-based calendar, expect some of its dates to be earlier than India's. Do not assume; ask.
Diwali week
In India, Dhanteras is Friday 6 November, Naraka Chaturdashi Sunday 8 November, Lakshmi Puja Sunday 8 November, Govardhan Puja Tuesday 10 November and Bhai Dooj Wednesday 11 November. Dhanteras is for cleaning the house and buying a new vessel, Naraka Chaturdashi for the pre-dawn oil bath that recalls Krishna's victory over Narakasura, and the Amavasya evening for Lakshmi and Ganesha puja with rows of lamps. For Brazil-specific guidance read Diwali 2026 in Brazil: date and Lakshmi Puja time by city and the Diwali 2026 five-day calendar.
Karthika Masam, Nagula Chavithi and Skanda Sashti
For Telugu and Kannada families the amanta Karthika Masam begins on Tuesday 10 November in India, with Somavaram fasts on Monday 16 November, Monday 23 November, Monday 30 November. In Brazil the start may come a day earlier, as explained above, which can add a Monday; check your local temple. Nagula Chavithi (Friday 13 November in India) and Skanda Sashti with the Soora Samharam (Sunday 15 November) follow. Guides: Karthika Masam 2026, Karthika Somavaram 2026 and how to celebrate Nagula Chavithi abroad.
Chhath, Devutthana Ekadashi and Tulasi Vivah
Chhath Puja's evening arghya to the setting sun is on Sunday 15 November in India. Devutthana Ekadashi, when Vishnu wakes from his four-month sleep, is Friday 20 November in India, and Tulasi Vivah, the marriage of the tulasi plant to Vishnu, follows on Saturday 21 November. For all three, abroad it may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple. Krishna temples in Brazil usually celebrate the Ekadashi and Tulasi Vivah with kirtan and a fast. See Karthika Ekadashi 2026 and Ksheerabdi Dwadashi and Tulasi Vivah 2026.
Kartika Purnima and Karthigai Deepam
Kartika Purnima, Karthika Pournami, Dev Diwali and Tamil Karthigai Deepam all fall on Tuesday 24 November in India, with Vaikuntha Chaturdashi the day before, on Monday 23 November. The full-moon evening is the time for lamps, a Shiva abhishekam or a lamp floated in a bowl of water. Read Karthika Pournami 2026 and Karthika Purnima significance and rituals.
Smaller vrats this month
Ahoi Ashtami (Sunday 1 November in India), Masik Shivaratri (Saturday 7 November), Gopashtami (Tuesday 17 November), Akshaya Navami (Wednesday 18 November), Ravi Pradosh (Sunday 22 November) and Ganadhipa Sankashti (Friday 27 November) complete the month. Abroad each may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple. Our November 2026 vrat and fasting days guide explains them.
Notes for families in Brazil
- Public holidays: Finados (2 November) and Proclamation of the Republic (15 November) are national holidays, and 20 November (Black Consciousness Day) is now a national holiday as well. They can make temple visits easier.
- Temples and centres: Brazil has a small number of Hindu temples and many Krishna, yoga and Vedanta centres; see top Hindu temples and spiritual centres in Brazil, and check each one's official website for current timings.
- Evening times: Lakshmi Puja, Pradosh and deepam times depend on your local sunset. Never convert an Indian muhurat to Brazilian time.
- Fasting and health: if you are pregnant, elderly, diabetic or on medication, keep a light fast with fruit and milk, or speak to your doctor first.
Frequently asked questions
When is Diwali 2026 in Brazil?
In India Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) is on Sunday 8 November. We do not have a Brazil-specific Drik date, so we show the India date: abroad it may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple. Lakshmi Puja is an evening ritual, so the time must be worked out from your own city's sunset, never converted from India.
Why might festivals fall a day earlier in Brazil?
Brazil (São Paulo time) is 8.5 hours behind India. A tithi that begins during India's day can already be running at the next Brazilian sunrise on the previous calendar date. Our table shows this on several days, for example around Diwali and Devutthana Ekadashi, which is why we ask you to confirm dates with your temple.
When does Karthika Masam 2026 begin for families in Brazil?
In India Karthika Masam begins on Tuesday 10 November. At São Paulo sunrise on 9 November the tithi is already Shukla Pratipada, so a temple using a Brazil-based panchang may start the month a day earlier. Abroad it may fall a day earlier or later — check your local temple.
Does Brazil have daylight saving time in November?
No. Brazil abolished daylight saving time in 2019, so the clocks do not change. São Paulo sunrise moves from 5:19 AM on 1 November to 5:09 AM on 30 November.
Which panchang should I follow in Brazil?
Follow your temple or acharya. If they use an India calendar, keep the India dates in this guide. If they compute dates for Brazil, the local date may differ by a day; the daily tithi column in our table, calculated for São Paulo, shows where that is likely.
Editor's note and methodology
Editor's note (9 October 2026): This calendar has been restored at its original address. Daily tithi, nakshatra and sunrise for São Paulo are computed with HinduTone's panchang calculator, validated against Drik Panchang (tithi at sunrise matched on every checked date). Festival dates are India dates from Drik Panchang for Hyderabad, because we have no Brazil-specific festival dates; abroad a festival may fall a day earlier or later. Times from India are never converted. Please confirm with your temple before a fast.
